Question about IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T60p Notebook
I have an IBM Thinkpad T60P laptop with the 15" 1600x1200 screen that currently does not display anything on screen.
Connecting the machine to an external monitor works correctly and also the backlight on the monitor comes on (I believe) however no display. I believe it is a faulty panel but before I go spending £££ on a new panel, CCFL, inverter etc I'd like to get your opinion on how to diagnose and locate the exact problem.
Any help would be appreciative...
Many thanks. Dino

Saw exactly the same think on another t41 i was trying to fix. If it was moved at all screen went off.
Turned out it was corrosion on the motherboard that was causing the problem.
Has it been liquid damaged or got damp in the past?

have you tried Function F7/F8 ?
Make sure that your display driver is installed correctly.
I had the same Laptop as you did and was able to have dual monitor.
Also check your Display driver in your control panel and make sure it set to dual monitor.

SOURCE: Thinkpad T23 screen problem
If you take the casing apart on your monitor and pull the chip out gentley, look at the ribbon wire that goes from the monitor to your computer. It may be cracked from opening and closing. That is what was wrong with mine and it sounds like we have the same problem. I had to use another montintor until my tech group could get me a new one. Hope this helps.

did u manage to enter your bios?if not, then i suspect your ram has a problem..normally notebooks are equipped with two modem...try to use one of them only....also, try to change the position(means slot A is for RAM A and slot B is for RAM B- try to place RAM A to slot B first n test your notebook)
hope it will help ; )

Did you say the the video output flickers on and off when you connect an external monitor to the video output. If the inverter is faulty this would not affect the video output and the external monitor would not flicker but if the external monitor flickers it would point to a video card problem.
