You should be able to do that under "Printer Preferences" Right click on your printer under "Printers and Faxes" and follow the prompts.

Canon Printer MP250 doesn't want to keep the grayscale ONLY setting.many attempts to use only black ink but it keeps on setting color ink by default. SB001

If you are changing to greyscale before you print, it will only stay there for that print job. You need to go to the printer through the control panel - devices - printer and change it to greyscale. It should stay that way then.

I want to the ink settings to color only rather than using both color and black cartridges

Print in greyscale, if the option is available in your printer driver. NOTE: This mode will consume more color ink than if you just printed in the printer 'normal' default mode.

  3. Use the l_mark_s.gifr_mark_s.gif button to select Reset setting , then press the OK button.

  4. Use the l_mark_s.gifr_mark_s.gif button to select one of the following, then press the OK button.

Telephone no. data: Reverts the telephone number settings to default. I can't print anything on printer, and when I try, it says the printer is not responding. In Printers and Faxes, it says it is ready.

helaineliew,

Sure sounds like you have another printer as the default. Click on start. Then click on control panel. Click on printers and other stuff. See which printer is set as the default. If the Canon Pixma mx340 isn't change it. This should solve your problem.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating. Please consider a testimonial. Thank you.

While printing in grayscale mode it is using color cartridges. It should use onli main black 520.

Open the printer "print options" or "Print Settings" and select the "Black ink only". I am not very sure about your model, but when you carefully check, you'll see "print in color" "Print in greyscale" it should be somewhere below the "print in greyscale". Hope this helps. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

I want to print black and white at times but can't seem to find a way to do this with the canon mp610 on my mac running safari.

You should be able to set it in your printer properties.

Select - Advanced - Printing defaults - Main - Check "Greyscale Printing".

The ''odometer'' shows greyscale as colour

Any machine I'm familiar with has a default colour setting that you can set to either colour or black & White. Check in your printer properties. If the machine is set for colour, even if you are printing all black text for example, it will "make" the black from the colours, thus registering it as a colour document.

No setting for black and white printing only

The setting isn't on your printer, its in windows.

The next time you print, instead of just clicking "Ok" to send the document to the printer, click "properties." this will look different depending on your OS and whether or not you have printer software installed so I can't give you step by steps but there should be an option here to either set the printing defaults to greyscale or just a straight up black/white dropdown/checkbox. save that as default and you are done.

Printing in color

hi

often the printer 'driver' settings on your printer are set to greyscale only
on the pc open the control panel, printers
right click on the printer and select properties
open the control for the printer and go to the printing preferences (on the general tab)
on the next window (main) look down and ensure the setting is set to colour (not greyscale)
ok out and try printing again

these settings are from my iP5000 and should be similar
try looking in the preferences for similar options
