SOURCE: Magellan Maestro 4250

I just called Magellan.....1-800-707-9971. I got my 4250 for Christmas 2007 and never did register it. We did that over the phone and then he gave me a repair order and an address to send the unit to them. It will be fixed under warranty.....my only cost is the UPS or FED EX shipping. He said I will have it back in 7 to 10 days. OUTSTANDING service.
Mine was stuck on the blue screen.......and the pin reset did nothing.
SO......best of luck to you all......and I highly suggest calling Magellan.

No a practical solution, but at least you will get your device repair, after being on hold for 40 minutes I spoke to a very nice rep, unfortunately evethough she didn't admit it, it seems a software problem with the new 2008/2009 map update, in other words no way to fix it, you need to send it for repair, make sure you tell them to update the device with the new 2008/2009 Maps, if not you will have the same problem later on, Good Luck

SOURCE: magellan maestro 3100 failed update

go to Tech support at www.magellamgps.com tell them what has transpired and ask for 2.18 Update Recovery Files. This fixed my problem. Took a few email exchanges but I thought the responses were very quick.

Hello There, I have a Magellan myself, besides me knowing some things or two about GPS'S

Give this a try, seems to work for me and others most the time.

Try this for me to see if this works: Let me know. It needs to be rebooted. Turn off, by holding off button down. Then once it is completely off, then turn it on, BUT when you go to turn it on, keep on button depressed, all the way until it turns on and then some for about 15 seconds, now you just rebooted system. Let me know, if does work, please click on the thumbs up to showed your a happy customer. Thanks Mike

Hi tedmare1

you can download the 4.72 update for your 5310 HERE but follow the directions to the
letter or it will render it inoperable...read all the instructions aftrer downloading and before you
run the update.

make sure either the battery is fully charged, or you have it plugged in to the home charger
NOTE: the usb cord will not charge a magellan 5310, so you need to use the home charger or
fully charge it woth the car charger before starting...if the download is interupted for any reason,
the update will fail and the 5310 will not fully boot.

you might have to register your 5310 with the site before downloading (you used to ) but maybe not since they changed their site within the last few days.

let me know if you need more help or info

Look in your manual on how to do a hard reset. Usually is holding the power button/slide on while resetting. That can get it out of loops. This is a more brute force reset that just using the reset button

If that doesn;t work you should talk to magellan tech support. They are quite helpfull and may have some differant way to reset things. And at worse will be able to tell you if it is time to send it in.

My 5310 goes to the "System Settings"

not sure how you tried the rest, but try turning the 5310 on and then hold the power button for 15 seconds, then start it again... if that fails, turn it on and press and hold the reset for 15 seconds.

if it works, try and update it again!

if neither of those work, its possible the digitizer (touch part of the screen) is out on it.

if its under warranty, send it back. this is a know problem with this model but most times it will reset and work fine.

My Maestro 3225 is stuck on the system settings

if your lucky, all it will need is a reset. start the unit and using a paper clip, insert it in the small hole on the side. if that fails, try the update using the Magellan link below...follow the update directions carefully. you must register your unit on the magellan site to download the update.

if neither solution works, id say the digitizer is bad (the touch screen) but the update normally cures this problem!

let me know if you need further help!

Hi My Magellan Maestro powers up with the Magellan screen and the bar scrolls but thats all it does? Carl Lucas Aberdeen MD

i just replied to a fellow with the same problem and since your problem is same, ill post what i wrote him/her but try a hard reset 1st..turn the gps on then locate the little pin hole on the side, using a paper clip, push reset....if that fails, try the 2.18 update if you havent already.

updates for any magellan can be found HERE
but read below first before getting the update

i cant stress enough that patients is a must here. this update is huge 1.75GB

follow the instructions below whether you have updated your gps already or not!

There are few ways to solve this problem. i assume you installed the 2.18 update for the 3100 and assuming you tried the reset already, try and run the update again and follow the directions to the letter..make sure the battery is fully charged (i also keep mine plugged in if the update doesnt say not to) and do not try and run the update across a network. this update is huge 1.75GB and can take an hour or so depending on the computer..do not interrupt the update process. if you do not have the 2.18 update read me file, i can try and post it here, but its in PDF and dont think i can post that

if all else fails, magellan will fix or replace for free any of there gps that were rendered inoperable due to one of there updates.

either solution will work but magellans going to tell you to run the update again anyway before sending it back.

i gave you the 2 easyest ways to fix it,but
there are other ways to get it running again, but if your not comfortable copying and moving files...youll make it even worst then it is.

hope this helps.

My Magellan GPS stucked in the setting mode and there is no way out. Need some help.

hi tchen2005, try the hard reset first. its the little hole on the side of the unit. while unit is off, use a paperclip the reset the unit. if that does nothing to fix the problem, get the latest update. Magellan has two different updates for the 4040, follow the directions to make sure you get the right one. if you still have the same problem after you install the update, the digitizer is probably broken. hopefully that is not the case, because the digitizer is part of the screen and cant be replaced without replacing the screen unless your very skilled with soldering micro electronics.

if you need further help, just reply to this post.
