Download and run everest home from this link.
When you click on motherboard in the small left column and open it click on chipset,

On the display in the large right window click on southbridge.

This is the chipset for your audio. Google the audio chpset or the audio controller set for updated drivers.

Windows XP needs the SATA textmode drivers for it to recognise the SATA hard drive. This can be downloaded from this link:
http://support.gateway.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=2391
You will need the SATA AHCI driver

You must then burn the drivers to a CD or copy to a USB stick. When installing windows XP, you will be prompted "press F6" to load additional drivers, at this point the install will ask you to specify where these drivers can be found, if you direct it to the USB or CD Rom (USB is better to avoid disc swapping), it should find the drivers needed and then recognise your hard drive.

The above is a bit academic though, because this does not appear to support Windows XP according to the downloads options on the link

Is your video-adapter "integrated" onto the motherboard?
Is your sound-adapter "integrated" onto the motherboard?
If so, access the web-site of the manufacturer of the motherboard, and download the video & audio device-drivers for Windows XP.

If not, then you have "add-in" audio/video cards.
Access the web-site(s) for the manufacturer of those cards, and download the device-drivers.

Or, access http://WindowsUpdate.Microsoft.com
click "custom" and click "optional hardware" updates,
to see if Windows Update will offer the device-drivers.

I replaced my hardrive and now there is no sound. UNder the control panel under sound/audio it reads no audio device

Sometimes the drivers aren't automatically updated or loaded when you install new hard drives. What I suggest is you download the sound drivers again for you Toshiba Satellite A135-S2276 laptop. Click here for the link to download site. All you have to do is enter your Operating System ( e.g. Windows 7, Vista, XP ) and you will click on the sound driver and download it.
Hope this helps and thank you for choosing FixYa.com

Ok, instead of having all the hassle, my best advise for you is this, have your hard drive reformat, install it first with windows xp SP1 then upgrade it to windows xp SP2, in this way all the drivers missing and not supported will be rsetored, windows xp supported almost all drivers

Computer cant read drivers after isntalling new HD

Computer sounds fine, CD sounds dead! Try copying the drivers onto a new CD using another computer & try them in the laptop again. The drivers may be Vista-specific anyway, so try downloading XP drivers from Toshiba website.

Download the drivers and save them onto a disk.Instal the drivers using the disk in the laptop. If you need the reinstall cd get it from this website also. You said you only need drives , not the windows also.

HP-Compaq Presario C795TU is specifically designed for Windows Vista. They do not provide drivers for Windows XP along with the package. You will have to download and install it seperately.
