I have a dell inspiron 1300 laptop. Just had the entire hard drive reformatted and wpxp re-installed. Now that my laptop is working faster again, the mouse is having problems. I normally attach a mouse with USB port, but with or without the USB port being used the mouse pointer is eratic up/down the screen. Help! I'd like to get a couple more years out of this laptop before I hand it down to my kids. Thanks.

Re: dell inspiron 1300 laptop mouse eratic
Just uninstall old driver and then you should install a new and updated touchpad driver in your system.
then restart your system. its a software issue.
for new driver go to dell.com at drivers and download.

You may need to "wipe" or reformat your entire C drive to be able to install Windows program again. I would suggest installing WIN7 program as WIN XP is at its end of life cycle for that operating system and Microsoft may not support it any longer.
If possible try installing WIN7 once again, and if requested to reformat or do an entire install, choose YES.
WIN 7 should then reformat your C drive, erase everything that is on it and then install as WIN7 program.
Be sure you have your program license key to install WIN7.
this happens when there is damage to the windows installation, or the hard drive itself. test your hard drive using an external hard drive casing, if the hard drive works then you can just copy your files to another computer, then reformat the hard drive put it back in your laptop and reload windows
To format your hard drive, insert the installation DVD(Vista) and go
through the options until you get to choose which partition to install Vista on
and just click the button at the bottom that says "Format".
Hi you had format your laptop, after the format laptop you need its drivers like vga, sound, modem, touchpad, lan, wireless etc.
you have many options
1.in the cyber cafe go to goole.com and download all drivers
2. another options is download lan and modem driver, wireless drivers and install it .
Depending on how long the virus has been in the system, an anti virus program may not fix the damage. I suggest reformatting the hard drive with a full NTFS format and installing a new operating system.
