Question about Zebra Z4M Printer

1 Answer

I recently upgraded my print head from a 200 dpi print head to a 300 head. After doing so i have noticed a problem with the 2D datamartix barcode after printing. It is slightly rectangular in shape. Zebra no longer supports the printer so I'm not sure what the problem is. It may have to be calibrated but not sure. Any recommandations?

Make sure that you change to a 300dpi printer driver. The "dot" size on the 300 is slightly smaller than the 203 so if you are still sending data from a 203dpi driver, the print images will be slightly smaller because of the difference in the dot sizes. That may be affecting your datamatrix code.

Hope that helps !

Since changing the print head on a Z4M+ everything is printing small Why?

It`s possible that you install a 300 dpi resolution print head on 200 dpi printer. or check the seting from the printer on (format conver) is "none" - ok, if say 150-300 or 150 to 200, change and save. ps. some printers dont have this seting (s4m)

Font height is big in printed barcode. how can I adjust the size of the font?

check if the setting FORMAT CONVERT is with some numbers, please change for NONE.
This seting change the resolution from Printhead 200dpi or 300dpi or 150 dpi or none, none mins, if you have 200dpi printhead, print 200dpi resolution(small fonts). if have 300 dpi, print with 300 dpi resolution, if have 300 dpi(very small fonts) printhead, can print 150dpi(big fonts) if change this setting.
if ok, check the driver or your software.

Hi all i am trying to use barcode scanner in Motorola MC55 Handheld Mobile Computer. i have installed data wedge from...

Hello, Datamatrix is 2D Symbology. Actually this MC55 is a model with 1D Laser Scan engine. The laser cant scan 2D barcodes, therefore he is not decoding the datamatrix barcode.
You would need an MC55 with an 2D Imager or with Camera to scan 2D Barcodes.

I just changed out the print head and upgraded to a 300 dpi print head. Now when I print onto my label (2.5" x 0.75") label about 1/4" at the top of the label is not being used. Is there a configuration...

mmm...didn't think the printheads were interchangable. But the print will be smaller using a 300dpi printhead if you send a format that was designed for a 203dpi printhead. This is because the dots are smaller on the 300dpi. Make sure your formats have been switched to the 300dpi driver.

Hope that helps !

Labels enlarged

if they are diferent resolutions, ex. you change from 200 dpi to 300 dpi, you need to change something inside the printer like the gears (just reversing the platten roller gear and the the withe gera on the motor) and you are printing on 300 dpi with very small fontes.

Print Width Issue

the issue you are having is DPI related, when data is sent to the printer and rendered it is dot for dot, so a Z4M 203dpi printer has about 800dots on the printhead where your printer has about 1200dots on the printhead. so when your software prints to dot800 thinking it is the edge of the label it is infact at 60%. there sould be an option in the software to configure around this. if not the is an option in the printer to convert DPI setting ie 150>300 or 100>200 and so on. but i don't thing you can make a 300dpi print as 203dpi

best of luck

I'm getting really confused with the resolution stuff

The C4000 is a 4 megapixel camera and can produce photos that should produce very nice 8 x 10 photos. 11 x 14 prints may be pushing it a bit. Your cameras should be set for 2048 x 1536 and the .jpg compression should be set to "Super High". Better yet, that camera can produce TIFF format. For photos you plan to print, use the TIFF format. The other half of this process is the printer. Most inkjet printers have a number of settings. Make sure that it is set for photo paper and be sure to use glossy photo paper. If you can print a 8 x 10 print in less than a minute, your printer is not set right. If it seems like it is taking forever, it is set right. .................... Using Photoshop Elements 2: Open your photo into Elements. Click Image, Resize, Image Size Remove the checkmark from "Resample Image" Change resolution to 300. Notice that the width height is about 5 x 7 inches. So if you print that photo at 300 dpi (dots per inch), you will get an outstanding 5 x 7 print. Most inkjet printers produce their very best outputs at 300 dpi. At 200 dpi, the image is still quite good. When you get below 150, you will start to see changes in quality. Now set the Resolution to 200 dpi and notice that the output size has changed to about 8 x 10 inches. Now check to see how it will look on paper. click OK. Click File, Print Preview You can verify that the photo fits on the paper and that the paper is correct (horizontal/vertical). Now print the photo. The next window that opens should let you get to your printer properties and you can verify that you have the printer set for it best settings and that paper is set to photo paper.
