Sound driver not avalebel

Sound drivers are required to make the sound card in your computer work, thus allowing your computer to output sound. You must have the correct sound drivers software that corresponds with your computer, model of sound card and operating system in order to get sound. Sometimes when your computer has had an update, you may need to download your drivers again. Sound drivers are available on the Internet to download and install for free. 1. Find the model of your sound card and identify what operating system you are using, as well as the model or serial number of your computer.
To find your sound card model, go to the Start menu, open the Control Panel, locate and open the Device Manager. Near the bottom is an option called "Sound, video and game controllers." Double click to open the sub-menu. There you will find the type of sound card you have.
To find your operating system, right click on My Computer on your desktop. Click "Properties." The name of the operating system should be listed at the top.
To find your computer model, it will vary from PC to PC. For laptops, check underneath for a label. For desktops, check on the top or left side of the tower.
2. Open an Internet browser and navigate to the website of either the manufacturer of your sound card or the brand of your computer. Most computer brand websites, if not all, supply drivers you can download from their support and downloads section. For example, if you have a Gateway computer, go to Find "Support," then "Drivers & Downloads." Fill out the required fields to search for the driver.
3. Look for the driver that corresponds with your sound card model, computer model and operating system. Click the link to begin the download. When it asks if you want to save the file, click to save to the desktop. After the download is finished, double-click the file and follow the on-screen instructions to install your sound driver.
I hope you find it very helpful.

The monitor won't play sound. I've tried phones, i've tried both connecting directly on the monitor and the tower of the computer. None of it worked. On the audio settings, it says that there is no sound...

You most likely need the drivers for the audio device. These would have come on a CD with the computer when it was new. You may be able to download audio drivers from the computer manufacturer's website if you have the model number of the computer... or from the motherboard manufacturer's website if you have the model of the motherboard.

If there is a sound-card that you are plugging into, you would need to go to the sound card manufacturer's website to download the drivers for that model of sound card. The model number and manufacturer of the sound card will be either etched on the board or there will be a sticker.

Since this is most likely an obsolete PC using obsolete software and an obsolete sound card, finding the drivers may be near impossible without the original install CDs that came with the computer or sound card.

My computer said I have no sound device. I have the speakers plugged in correctly and have used them on my other pc (so I know they work) But I cannot get them to function properly on the pc I am currently...

"sound device" means the hardware built into your computer that generates the sound. Speakers provide the audible output.
You need to install appropriate sound drivers for your computer model; you have to establish the make and model of your computer (if it's a laptop or a brand-name machine), or make and model of the motherboard (if it's a standard desktop machine). Then you have to go to that manufacturer's website, search for your exact model, download and install audio drivers.

I have installed a new version of windows xp on my computer but there is no sound coming from the computer

It is most likely because the sound driver for your machine is not installed. If it is a manufactured machine go to your manufacturers website and click on support and then go through and locate your model of computer and download and install the sound driver. If it is a custom built machine and you are using onboard sound go the the motherboard manufacturers support site and locate your model of motherboard and download the sound driver from there.

No sound from my computer, I cannot seem to get the audio drivers downloaded to make it work. Can you recommend any sites to go to? I have windows XP

Hello the first step is to identify your sound card.

The best way is to first look at the back of the computer and check to see if you have a sound card or if one is integrated into your motherboard.

An integrated sound card will have its connections within an inch or so of where you plug your keyboard or mouse.into the main board

A sound card will take up an expansion slot down towards the bottom of the case usually where your modem or network card are.

The next step is to go to your computers manufacturers website and find out what type of sound card shipped with your model. Many times they will even provide the drivers for download.

If drivers or info are not available from the computer manufacturer then submit a help ticket to them asking for the model of the motherboard or of the sound card that way you can go to that manufacturers website and download drivers there.

If you have the original software that came with the computer you may have the drivers on the disc you used to reload windows. Look for a directory labels
drvers or cabs.

As a last resort Google the model number of your computer hopefully somewhere out there is a reference to what is included with your model.

Also try posting your brand and model maybe someone here has the info available.

You did not specify the brand and model # of your computer. Maybe the driver is the problem. Get the name and model number of your computer. Go to the manufacturers website. You should see an area where you can download the sound card driver. You can also comment back the name & model #
