Question about Cameras

1 Answer

My Stylus-7010 has just decided not to open up when turned on. The battery is fully charged, and the playback pictures function lites up and works fine. The lens makes a noise but does not extend nor open. Should I return it to the store for a replacement? I have only had it for 41 days. Registration #8855

Base from the description of your problem this is a clear mechanical problem inside your camera and in order for it to be fix the camera needs to be dismantle and doing that will definitely void your warranty for the unit, so I strongly suggest that you just have this camera replace since its still almost new and still under warranty take advantage of that.

I have a olympus 7010 digital camera. everytime i try to turn the camera on, a orange light flashes and turns off. i've tried charging the battery numerous times.

The Olympus Stylus 7010 has a rechargeable lithium ion battery that will eventually wear out-- your battery could be at the point where it does not hold a charge any longer.
Have you previously noticed a degradation in battery life? If so, you can try replacing the battery or connecting the camera to a constant power source (like an AC adapter) to troubleshoot.

I didn't turn off the camera before taking out the battery. Now it wont turn on after reinserting the component. What can I do? The camera is the stylus 7010

Try to plug it into your computer using the usb cable and turn it on from there. If it doesnt work, fully charge the battery and try inserting it again after an hour.

Does it work in picture review mode? If so try turning the camera off and pushing the lens assembly in towards the body of the camera, otherwise, is the battery charged? Does anything come up on the screen?

Olympus 7010 shuts down in picture mode - not a battery problem

I will tell you how I did it for the same price you were going to charge me for a solution. To ask how I did it once I found a solution without a fee goes against your business model.

Stylus 7010 keeps shutting off battery fully charged. Turn on, access card light flashes then shuts off

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may require professional repair.
