I have a 1 1/2 hp Flotect irregation pump for my inground watering system. When I started it this year, I cannot get it to prime. I got a new flow value for the end,, all hoses are tight but cannot get it to prime. I have been using this pumb for four year without trouible priming it. Could it be something inside the pumb that would cause this. I did empty the pumb last fall when I put it away. Cannot figure it out why it wont print. Do you have some suggestion? Should I take it apart to inspect the impiller and defuser? Confused

There is a drain plug that can be unscrewed , sometimes they can fall out or get lost, if this happens you will not be able to prime. Also when you stored it for the winter, if you didn't drain it all the way did you store it some where the water inside the pump could of froze and broke something inside? When pumps go bad they just stop working like this. IF there is a leak under ground in the pipe it will not build pressure and prime. Some times you need to check the main control valve to make sure its opening. you can try taking a hose and filling the sprinkler system at a sprinkler head then turning the pump on.

I have 2 inch PVC system for my pump and filter. Fafco inground system has 1.5 inch piping. Where is the best way to reduce 2 inch pipe to 1.5 inch (at the diverting valve or at the panel)? Another...

Honestly, I think you are over thinking both your problems. Reduce to 1.5 inch pipe as close to the ground as possible. It is more work for your pump to push water up a 2" pipe then a 1.5" pipe, but it will do either without any real problem.

As far as mounting your panels, as long as they are above the water level of the pool the water is going to drain out of them just fine. You can slope them slightly, but you don't need to.

Can a person use a hayward de ec40 for either above ground pools or inground pools? if not why?

Yes as long as you are sure to match the flow rate of the pump to the filter. The biggest limit will be the low maximum flow rate the EC40 has. It will clog up to fast if installed on a larger pool...inground pools are generally larger (more gallons of water) than above ground. The pumps are more important to match as far as using inground rated units for inground pools and above ground for inground. Filters only care about flow rate and overall volume of water to keep clean.

Not self priming itself. when it turns off the water pushes back out of the skimmer and pushes the basket up. it loses water and the pump cant re-prime itself.

PRIME PUMP, OPEN AIR VALVE ON FILTER. OR TAKE THE LID OFF YOUR FILTER AND SEE IF IT STARTS TO PUMP... YOU DO HAVE IT PLUMBED RIGHT? THE PIPE COMING OUT OF THE PUMP GOES TO THE FILTER !! I'M YOUR LOCAL POOL PUMP REPAIR GUY IN LONGWOOD FLORIDA. WHERE THE POOL IS ALWAYS OPEN

you don't say the volume of the pool, but if the 1.5 was working before and you are not adding too many turns, it will work.

Pinnacle 1.5 hp inground pool pump making a lot of noise- it's only 2 years old and at the end of last season was much louder than it should be

Is pump moving water at a normal rate and pressure? If so, then you are in need of a bearing replacement. There is no specific lifetime for bearings or shaft seals, however two years would be at the lower end of scale. Have front and rear bearings replaced along with shaft seal.
