1) First check to make sure your toner levels in the cartridges are not mostly used up. This can cause faint printing also.
2) Make sure you don't have a "Toner Save" feature selected in the printer's onboard setup menu.
3) As for the color balance, you should be able to select a "calibration" of the toners. That should automatically happen when you power the printer on, but sometimes you may have to do it again.
4) Finally, if you are using cheap, compatible toners purchased online, or refilled toners that might be the source of your problem as well.

Adjusting tension on overlocker

overlockers and sergers are annoying in that every time you change materials and threads they must be re-tensioned.

Get a scrap piece of material. Thread your machine correctly according to the instructions in your manual. If no manual most sergers are threaded, upper looper, lower looper then needles from right to left. Make sure you thread with the presser foot UP.

You want to balance the stitches Begin by adjusting the looper dials, you want them to meet right at the cut edge. Then adjust your needles. Keep doing test seams until you have them balanced. If you are a novice... try threading with each thread point having it's own color. That will help you identify which thread is giving you fits.

Have fun.

Lost my user's guide need to change make copies darker

May I know the model # of your machine?
Some of brother machine have the copy options where you can change the brightness, contrast and color of the document that you are copying.
For example for MFC-240:
You can change the brightness contrast by pressing copy mode. Then load the document in the feeder, press copy option so that it will show the option to change the brightness, contrast and color. Just press the arrow key to select the brightness then hit ok/menu. then press arrow key to have it lighter/darker..
Hope this helps.

How can i adjust the scanner to scan DARKER?

Hi,

From the scanner menu in the “Advanced mode settings”, you can find the buttons for color settings.
Using Color Settings buttons, you can adjust the brightness and contrast of the whole image, specify highlights and shadows, and adjust the contrast and balance in an image.
Favorite Settings enables you to save a set of settings (Input Settings, Output Settings, Image Settings, Color Settings and Preferences) made for the focal cropping frame. If there are no cropping frames, settings for the whole preview area are saved.
You can also recall the saved settings and apply them to the selected frames or the whole preview area.

And you can adjust the scanner to scan darker.
Please find the explanation pictures attached.
Hope this helps.

I WANT TO COPY A DOCUMENT DARKER

There should be a menu item or button that allows you to adjust the copier's brightness or contrast. The icons may be represented as a circle with half-white, half-black center, or as a circle with lines surrounding it, like a sun.

It would help to know your model of copier, or at least your manufacturer.

Want a B&W copy from colored sheet of paper w/o dark background.

It's never going to be perfect (unless the background is quite light in colour), because the copier basically "sees" the coloured background as "gray", and the darker the background the more "gray" it looks. Try setting the original type to "photo" mode, and then adjusting the exposure a little lighter/darker....that's all you can basically do.

Cartridge Finishes early

Unfortunately that is a technical issue.
1-adjustment of the Seperation
2-adjustment of the developper
3-adjustment of the Primary bias
4- etc.. etc...

You need a tech to go in and see which adjustment needs to be reset or calibrated. Most adjustments are done in the service mode but you still need to know how anad which one. The SERVICE manual is the only thing that will tell you and how to adjust.

Oh, it's the colors you are having a problem with. Then you probably want to perform an Auto Gradation Adjustment. It's on pages 162-163 of the manual found here: http://download.support.xerox.com/pub/docs/DocuColor_3535/userdocs/any-os/en/3535_User_Guide.pdf

Here is what it says:

Auto Gradation Adjustment
Auto Gradation Adjustment is a color calibration for the copier and printer. An Auto Gradation Adjustment compensates for differences between the actual and the expected toner densities for each color. An Auto Gradation Adjustment should be performed whenever there is a noticeable change in the appearance (quality) of the output, particularly changes in color
tones or densities. Performing an Auto Gradation Adjustment on a regular basis will help to maintain consistent color quality over time.

NOTE: Since an Auto Gradation Adjustment can affect all jobs for all users, it is recommended that this procedure be performed only by the Machine Administrator.

Copy Job - Text Compensates tones when a text original is copied.
Copy Job - Photo Compensates tones when a photo original is copied.
Print Job Compensates tones when printing with controller line screen.
Network Controller - 1 Compensates tones when printing with Network Controller screen type 1.
Network Controller - 2 Compensates tones when printing with Network Controller screen type 2.

NOTE: Printing the chart for Auto Gradation does not increase the meter count.
NOTE: When gradation adjustment is executed, the following
changes will be made to default copy settings set in System Settings mode: Copy density = Normal or Auto, Color Shift = Normal, Saturation = Normal, Color Balance = 0, Sharpness = 0.
NOTE: When Print or Network Controller gradation adjustment is executed, the printer’s output profiles for the available screen types are compensated.

1 On the Image Quality Adjustment screen, select Auto Gradation Adjustment.
2 Load 8.5x11 inch or A4 paper into Tray 5 (Bypass). Move the paper guide to gently touch the edge of the paper.

3 Select the desired gradation adjustment screen:
• Copy Job - Text
• Copy Job - Photo
• Print Job
• Network Controller - 1
• Network Controller - 2
Press Start. The Adjustment Chart is output.
4 Place the Adjustment Chart face down on the Document Glass with both Magenta color patches against the left side of the glass.
5 Place 5 sheets of white paper on top of the Adjustment Chart and close the DADF. Select Start.
6 To continue Auto Gradation Adjustment with other screens, repeat steps 2 to 5. When you are finished, select Close until the System Settings screen is displayed.
7 Select Exit to exit the System Settings mode.
