Blue line Ghost Image on Panasonic Projection TV

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} This set uses two Stk-392-110 convergence IC chips; both need to be replaced along with any of the 2.2. ohm light blue resistors around them; a bad resistor will be white in the middle; You can buy both for less than 13 dollars plus shipping on Ebay.

The chips are located on metal heat sinks with fins and are side by side. They are black(about 2 inches wide by 1 1/2 tall) and should have the STK-392-110 number printed on them in white.

Depending on your level of skill at this kind of work you may be able to do it yourself---if you need step by step instructions contact me---I have them in Microsoft word---start to finish repair including what you will need to do it.

If you are not able to do the repair yourself now is the slow time of year for TV repair shops----It should be fixable right in your home and the repair takes about an hour--I have done hundreds of these sets--some shops charge 300-400 but I do lots of them for 200-250 total cost. Make sure whoever you get changes BOTH of the chips!

Shop around and if they say "needs to go to shop" keep looking; any good tech can do this right in your home.

I do this here for free so if this helps you give me a vote here. If you need direct help contact me.

Panasonic 53" tv

Blue background lines with colors otherwise OK may be a loose or dirty blur drive potentiometer on small circuit board behind front grille and beneath front imerboard cover. These are hot-glued in place from factory but may be the cause f the problem. They're VERY sensitive.

If you have bowed blue lines instead of properly aligned colors, you probably have a blown convergence amplifier IC. These boards are no longer available so yours will have to be repaired. Some shops repair them but many send them out for 6-10 weeks. Fairly expensive too considering the amplifier chips are about $35 each (x2).

I have a rear projection panasonic 51" tv with blue curved lines

This can be repaired by a Degaussing coil from most TV repair places. If you haven't already you should shut down the TV and wait till it cools maybe 1 hour or so and then when you turn it on there should be a degaussing circut that might clear this up for you build into the set. Its not that strong a signal and usually takes care of minor discolorations. If it doesn't have that then a shop can come and take care of it pretty fast usually.
