The 13.3" MacBook Core 2 Duo was plagued with random shutdowns ( I know because I own 2). After not acknowledging the problem for quite a while, Apple finally came out with a new FIRMWARE that is designed specifically for this problem. This is a direct link to the web page (Apple) so you can download it. There are even instructions in case you have trouble keeping it on long enough to download. Here is the link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1599
I hope this helps! Remember to always check your power saving setting to be sure that it's not set up to shut down or log out. Please also remember to vote if this helps you!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hello im jingky my problem is if i download yahoo messenger my computer was black out

If a specific program is giving you problems you may want to try out some alternatives. Alternatives for Yahoo Messenger are:

Pidgin - http://www.pidgin.im/
Trillian - http://www.trillian.im/
Meebo - http://www.meebo.com/

These programs also log in to most of the other messaging programs as well. Hope this helps.

Also, a computer program causing a system to black out, shut down, freeze or have any strange behaviors should be uninstalled and an antivirus program/malware program run to verify the system is not infected somehow.

My Toshiba laptop is stuck in logging off mode. How can I fix this?

if you have a program running that is non responsive and try to shut down or restart, the computer will get stuck on the logging off screen. Often times if a computer takes a long time to do anything, it means you need to defrag your hard drive. Manually shut down the computer (you might have been pushing the Sleep button. If you can't figure it out, just unplug it and let the battery run down.) and when you restart it, go to the My Computer or Computer option, right click on your C drive, click on properties and a window should pop up. Click on the tab that says Tools and click on the Defragmentation option. The rest should be pretty self-explanatory. If nothing works. please try logging in as administrator in safe mode and doing a system restore.... please see Using Windows Vista System Restore :: the How-To Geek

Unistall webcam driver and reboot unit

Hi nuryani86

It means uninstall the camera software from Control Panel > Add/Remove Program (XP)

or Control Panel > Programs and Features (Vista)

Reboot the Unit means do a Restart from the Shut Down menu. Shutting down then booting back up will do the same thing.

Does this help?

Computer hangs up on shutting down screen

Ok.....

1. Make sure ALL user accounts are logged off!!!
2. UPDATE ALL DRIVERS
3. Check to see how many Programs are running while attempting to Shutdown the PC..(the more programs it tries to close, the longer it can take...(ESPECIALLY WITH LOW AMOUNT OF RAM/SLOWER RAM)

How to log off

If you log off you only close your user session under windows, not turn off the computer.

If you suspend you turn off almost everything in the laptop like hardwire, cd or dvdrom and most peripherals but the computer stays on the consuming power.

If you hibernate what windows does is to store all in memory in a temporary file in the hard drive and turn off all the computer so when you turn it on again it will be as you last session with all your programs and documents you left open.

And if you turn off the computer it will close all your programs, close windows and turn off all the hardware.

My laptop won't shut down properly!

Is it possible that you have changed the settings of what buttons do what on your system? E.g. you could have changed the power button to "switch user" instead of "shut down", to check this (in XP) go to "Power Options" (in Control Panel" and then click on the "Advanced tab" at the top, then select "Shut down" from the drop down menu at the bottom of the window.

If this is already set to shut down then maybe you could do a system restore in case another setting has been changed, restore it to before the PC started doing this.

Alternatively try actually choosing "Turn off Computer" from the Log On screen (press Ctrl + L to get to this screen, or choose switch user/log off). If you are using Vista I beleive that there is a shut-down option from the Log In Page there (which again you can access by pressing Ctrl + L on the keyboard.

Hope this helps!
