Question about Hitachi CP-S235 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Hi have an Hitachi CP-X880 projector. I bought it used and it worked fine for some time. Then it started to shut off with no warning. No blinking lights, no screen message, no red temp or lamp lights - at least I never noticed them being on. After cooling down for 20 minutes I can toggle the on switch and it will power up again and will work fine until it suddenly stops again. It seems as if the unit is very hot around the bulb. The bulb has 1435 hours. I got two brand new bulbs with the projector so I installed one of them but the projector still stops with no warning. I have cleaned the filter and there seems to be no blockage of the fan and there seems to be decent exhaust air from the front - but maybe not enough to move all the hot air?? Any ideas?

Could be overheating - till you find the issue just put another fan directly on bulb and give it the mother of all BJ's.

If both lights are flashing orange, that means that the bulb needs to be replaced and the filter needs to be cleaned. Make sure you reset the counters for both after you replace them.

hi there,
I have just done the exact same thing today. Press menu button on projector. Scroll (navigate) to the mirror option. This give you the options to mirror image left to right or up and down.
This should fix any of your problems.
Cheers
Luke

Hi there

In your Menu options there is a subfolder where it either reads lamp or lamp timer.

Scroll down to it and hold down you right or left arrow key on the Projector for a couple of seconds.

Hitachi CP- RX60:

Press the RESET button on the remote control or the right-pointing triangle button on the projector for about 3 seconds. Once you see the RESET dialog, use the upward-pointing triangle to RESET. I can't see what you are or are not doing...so please see page 39 of the user's manual (download found below)

"The lamp time is the time counted after the last resetting. It is shown in the OPTION menu as the use time of the lamp. Pressing the RESET button on the remote control for about 3 seconds displays a dialog. To reset the lamp time, select the RESET option using the (triangle) button."

My Hitachi CP-X275 Multimedia Projector will run then shutdown by itself and not show a picture.

Normally when a unit like this shuts down, there are indicators that will show why. Are any of the lights on or blinking when this happens? The most common cause is overheating. Is the lamp indicator RED or the temp indicator? A little more detail would be helpful here. Can you also indicate how long the unit runs before shutting down?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi,

Make sure the Computer Input is set to VGA, Computer, or RGB (depending on which projector model you have). Go through the menu settings of your projector.

Hope this helps

Lamp turns-on and off

lamp ballast and/or power supply is going. the ballast has to boost the charge up to 140 vdc, and after it's up to it full strength, it drops down to 40vdc to maintain. if the ballast can't get up to the proper voltage, it shuts down. or the lamp itself will not hold the voltage, and therefore needs replacing.

Resetting the air filter timer

If you do not have a remote here is how to reset the filter time. Use the "Menu" bottun to get the "easy menu" to display. Push the down arrow until you get to "Filter Time," then push and hold the RIGHT arrow to reset the filter time. DO NOT try to reset using the "Reset" option on the easy menu, it will not work.
