Dryer screeches

However, due to the fact that the dryer has a heating element, (or a gas flame) and due to the fact you are putting clothes in it, you surely do not want the use oil or grease, with very rare exception.
Someone needs to pull the whole dryer apart and find out the source of the squeak. Here are some causes:
1) Some dryers drums are mounted on a shaft behind the drum, which goes in to a bearing sleeve. These can wear out, causing the squeak. I have one like that in use. 12) Some dryers have a couple of plastic and runner wheels that the drum rotates on, which can also squeak. Fix should be replacement of the wheels.
3) Some dryer drums have plastic/nylon glides or slides the drum rides on. When worn out, these can squeal.
When you take it apart, you will likely find what the problem is.
Be blessed.

GE 5 Cycle Automatic Heavy Duty Extra Large loud noise

All ge dryers have a center bearing on the back side of the drum and drum glides on the frontside. The glides make a scrubbing sound when bad and the drum is hard to turn. The rear bearing does a squeak thang when the plastic bearing wears thin and begins to make metal to metal contact between drum mount and rear bulkhead mount. It is an easy fix but the drum gotta come out. here is my pictorial page that shows how with videos and repair pix:

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The squeaking sound comes when the belt is either broken or worn out and needs replacement or the idler pulley is bad. If you want to do this yourself then you can check this video on YouTube:

Dryer squeaking really loudly when drum turns. Heats though! Model FDE336RES2

its the plastic piece the drum roller rides in behind the drum in the center of the rear wall it wears down the plastic to the metal and starts screeching the drum either pops up and out of it or theres 3 philip head screws in the rear of the drum

Very loud squeaking noise - like a noisy loose fan belt on a car.

The dryer needs to be rebuilt, new drum belt and drum rollers to cure this problem.

When we turn on our Whirlpool Supreme electric dryer, it heats up and dries clothes, but it is making a loud squeaking noise throughout the cycle...sometimes louder than others.

The squeaking noise can be caused by any of the following.

Location High:

Belt slipping on the dryer drum

Worn Drum seals but would sound more like a dragging noise

Location Low:

Belt tensioner pulley bearing frozen and the idler pulley shaft is spinning inside the belt tensioner assy.

Belt slipping on the motor bearing

Motor bearing is dry

Thanks for using FixYa!
