HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4243N wont burn dvds

Hi there,

Try uninstalling the Driver in Device Manager: in XP or earlier: Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware Tab/Device Manager, or in Vista & 7: Start/Control Panel/Device Manager.

Once in Device Manager click on the + sign that is in front of 'DVD/CD ROM drives' to open it up, then right click on the model of the Optical Drive in question.

Click Properties/Driver Tab/Uninstall (Advanced) & this will remove the driver if it is corrupt. Restart your system & the Hardware Manager will recognise the Optical Drive & install the necessary Driver.

If this doesn't solve your dillema then I hope that you have a warranty. Good luck in trying.

Kindest regards,

Ste

Cannot write to the DVD drive in my compaq Presario V2000

The only thing I find for your laptop is a firmware update. I am assuming you aren't trying to write DVD's since your model shows to be a DVD/CDRW Drive (GCC-4243N).
Try the firmware patch and see if that clears up your problem, here is the link:

My HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC - 4243N does not appear to work any more. I don't believe it spins. How do I remove it from the Dell Inspiron 1150? Thanks.

Take it to your nearest computer repair shop, as they can remove it and install a new one for you.
Good Luck.

Burning problems

Windows can only write to CDR disks in its internal drivers, and to burn DVD's requires a 3rd party program such as NERO or NTI.

I need install CD/RW-DVD Model GCC-4243N in Tecra 8100 PT810C-11C52, but in screen show error# IDE1 Bios is Version 2.10, maybe I need upgrade Bios?. The CD Rom old is an SD-C2302. Thank for your help,...

Yeah... that's common. The Toshiba DVD drives uses a different drive select than other people's DVD drives. Look to the manufacturer of your DVD/CDRW drive and look to see if there's a firmware update that will allow you to set the drive select differently. If not, then you'll be stuck with the IDE1 thing forever.

Now... here's the fun part: some of these drives will give you an IDE error, they'll never boot, but some of them will work perfectly when you get into Windows.

My dvd cant eject

You need to provide more information.

A CD-ROM/DVD drive only needs power to eject a disc. It does not care if the drivers are installed, for that function, it only needs power.

If this is a new drive it might be a bad one. If this is a drive you have used before, it might have gone bad.

If you have a Disc stuck in the drive, you can always use a paper clip to preform a manual eject. Just unbend a paper clip, and stick it in the pin size hole on the front of the drive. Keep pushing until the drive door opens.

If this is new drive, make sure it is connected correctly.
