No. And in general, you're better off doing the B&W conversion in software on a computer, as you get more control over brightness, contrast, etc than you would in a camera. However, it is more of a pain when you just want some B&W pics in a hurry.

1. You could lower the ISO setting. 2. You could lower the "exposure compensation" setting. It's the button that's half-black/half-white with a plus and minus. There are many other ways but you really should carefully read your instruction manual and experiment.

Hi My Nikon D70 only now produces black photos. On speaking to Nikon suppor they state that this requires a replacement CCD however is this a known D70 fault and thus should be fixed for free? or is...

This is a 2004 camera model. Even if it was a known problem, Nikon would have fixed them out of warranty for free for only a limited period of time. You've gone way past that time. If you still want it fixed, get an estimate from Nikon and search the internet for other service centers that repair Nikons and get their estimates too. Then, make your decision.

How do i change a Nikon D70 to black and white

The Nikon D70 does not have a black-and-white mode setting.

However, you can take your photo in color and then use software to convert it to a grayscale photo. (Black and white implies an image with only those two values per pixel; grayscale can have 8 to 16 bits per pixel.) Most photo editing packages have a "desaturate" feature that does an automated conversion to grayscale.

The open source image editor Gimp has a "channel mixer" dialog that would allow you to approximate the effect of various filters before performing the desaturate function. This would allow you to experiment with the procedures if you do not have a commercial photo editor like Adobe PhotoShop. There is a special wrapper of Gimp that puts its interface into a configuration like that of PhotoShop; look for "GimpShop". The open source image manipulation package ImageMagick may also be used if you prefer working with command line utilities.

Photos coming out with too much yellow

You're shooting under incandescent light, and the camera doesn't manage to set the white balance entirely automatically. You can try to explicitly set the white balance to incandescent, or you may be able to create a custom white balance (I'm not sure whether Nikon bodies offer that feature), or you can adjust the white balance during processing (in which case it's better to shoot raw).
