I had a similar problem with mine, but this may not apply to you. I used my kix on my new macbook, and it worked fine. But when I tried to use it on my family's xp computer afterwards it said that it was writing and media player wouldn't pick it up but the computer itself did. My guess is the problem comes from switching systems between windows and apple. I also never bothered with disconnecting it "properly", which I recommend since it may have also caused the problem. But tell me if this helps.

How to reset the Sandisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player:

Hold down the Power/Resetbutton for about 15 seconds to perform a normal reset.

Otherwise, drain the battery completely by forcing it on until the rechargeable battery is completely drained: this will reset the unit completely.

It is frozen

Hi Chad,
Unfortunately there is no hard reset on the e250. Have you tried formatting it (FAT)? When it is connected to the PC you should be able to do that. Most of the times this will take care of the problem.
Here's a link that gives some more info.

Good luck,

I think my Sansa has a virus

Go ahead and do this, in case the DB is corrupted:
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx
