Cover for a gas stove

Not a good idea. The manufacturers don't offer covers for ranges, to increase counter top space, for good reason.

GE Profile slide in is 28" counters are 30" what

so the whole is 28" and the range is 30" this sounds like a carpentry task or exchanging for a differnt stove really nothing you can do to the stove I being a carpenter as well as an appliance repairman have cut the counters shorter in order to fit a stove if your not used to doing finish carpentry hire a carpenter it will be well worth the money and shouldn't cost that much to shave off two inches. please message me back if you have any furhter questions and please remember to rank this opinion Thanks again

The electric panel on my smooth top stove just went out with a popping sound rendering the oven unusable but the stove top burners are working.............what could have happened and is it worth it to get...

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good "blue" arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

I need to remove the top on my whirlpool gold gas range. It's model gs395legq3. It's about 9 years old. I got the clips in the front un-done but cannot figure out whats going on in the back. Has to be some...

How to remove the top on a whirlpool gold gas range model GS395LEGQ3, bought around the year 2000.

Please reall ALL directions before beginning. I suggest EVERYONE try step 2 before trying step 1, but not before reading ALL directions first!

First and most important shut gas valve off to your stove and unplug it.

Second and equally important, you MUST remove ALL sealed burners. You CANNOT get the top up(without messing something up)until you get the burners off. It is very easy to do. Just get a philips screwdriver or better yet a square drive bit that fits. If the screws look a little rusty(they probably do)insert your screwdriver or square bit and LIGHTLY tap the handle a few times, sort of like your pounding a nail. This helps to loosen the screws. Next just remove screws and carefully remove the burners by lifting STRAIGHT UP and gently twisting back and forth. Be watchful of the ceramic ignitors.

For the next step it is easier if you can pull out your stove so the front is about 5" in front of the counter-top. You MUST be careful that when pulling out the stove you don't kink/break/bend the gas line that goes to the stove. If your not comfortable you can pull out your stove without messing the gas line up it should still be possible to get the range top up but may be a bit more difficult.

1. Pull stove out so the front is about 5 inches out from your counter-top. Now gently pry the front of the range-top up and wedge something in there to hold it up(I used the handle on a plastic spatuala). You will only be able to pry it up about 1/4"-1/2". Use a flashlight and locate the clips holding the top down. They are located on either side about 3" in from the front. Use a butter knife and push the clip IN towards the center of the stove to release the range top. Once these clips are released you just have to lift the top up as it is on hinges. Just be careful and watch the wiring for your burner ignitors.

2. In order to get the top up you have to wiggle the front of the range top side to side in order to loosen the clips holding the range top. Try wiggling the top side to side and lifting at the same time. Hopefully the top will come loose from the clips then just lift up being careful of the ignitor wiring. If it does not come loose you may be able to use the butter knife method mentioned in step 1 but you will have to do it from the front of the stove which will be a bit more difficult.

Brand new gas stove. When oven is turned on there is a heavily gas smell.

There have been reports of gas ranges which have been installed with no leveling legs. (due to various reasons, like a new floor installed, but the counter tops stayed in the same place, so the range surface would be higher than the counter top if the legs were installed) In some cases, this results in an insufficient amount of combustion air for the oven. To test this, put the range up on a set of 3/4 inch or so blocks and try the oven again. Let me know how that went. Thanks.

The pilot adjustment screw is located on the back side of the oven temperature thermostat. Lift the cook top to access it. Use a flat screwdriver to adjust... counter clockwise= bigger flame.
