Question about GE A730 Digital Camera
My daughter had this same problem with her camera. We tried everything to get it fixed including the compressed air thing and it didn't work. Then I read somewhere to lay the camera face up on a flat surface pointed toward the ceiling. Hold the shutter button down at the same time hold the power on button down and it should try to focus while the lens barrel is extending. We tried that and it worked. Her camera is as good as new!! Hopefully this will help you guys as well.

Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum cleaner.

Place the camera flat on its back on the kitchen table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots.
