Question about Dishwashers

2 Answers

Bosch Classixx dishwasher: Initially no water feed and 'water check' light came on. Removed side panel, emptied water from base. Ran OK for a week or so. The problem then repeated so side panel removed, float switch operation checked (OK) drained water from sump below polystyrene float. Ran OK but contents came out dirty and cold - no heat. Side panels off again, water in base but no obvious leak when watched during cycle - still no heat. Help please.

Where do I find the heater element so that I can check this out?

Does this heater element heat both the wash water and drying cycle?

  • sharpjohn Apr 26, 2010

Where is the water in the base coming from? No obvious leaks seen by looking under durting a cycle with the side panels removed.

This dishwasher is only 4 years old so we were not expecting troubles like this so soon.
The pointers to the repair manuals were most helpful and hopefully will lead me to resolving the issues.

Thanks for using FixYa. If the dishwasher is wont fill its water-inlet valve issue. This valve is usually at the bottom left or right of the dishwasher, behind the lower access panel. It's the device with the main water line from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it. If the water-inlet valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. If you have checked all these and still there is no heat then it means its due to the heating element going bad. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

    If you
have water leaks around the base of your dishwasher, you may be using a
detergent that is causing too much suds. Cut back on the amount of detergent
you use, and see if that makes a difference. Water that spills through the door
vent is usually caused by improperly loading dishes. Leaks from the door itself
may be caused by a faulty door gasket or door tightness adjustment. You should
check the main tub seal, the door latch, the door gasket, the water-inlet
valve, and the fill and drain hoses.

Also make sure the dishwasher is sitting level (you can adjust the front feet
up or down, and many units have some type of levelers at the rear). Water under
the dishwasher may be originating from a leaky hose or loose hose connection.
Remove the lower front panel, and check the hoses. The pump seal may be
defective, too; replacing this is a job for an appliance repairperson. An older
dishwasher may corrode at the bottom, but this is fairly uncommon. If this is
the case with your dishwasher, it's time for a new one.

    Please do
accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further

Bosch classixx dishwasher wont drain

Ive had this happen on mine too. remove the filters in the bottom. squirt washing up liquid into the space-- liberally dont be shy!
Boil pans of water, boil the kettle. pour water into the space where the filters normally are. Fill the base of the dishwasher completely. Next close the door and repeatedly use the Reset feature. Eventually the pump will clear and kick back into life. Its a build up of fats, and sludge that causes the pump to appear to seize--the washing up liquid and boiling water see to that.
