    Thank you, for taking the time and interest in my problem Mike.

    But i am giving up on these 3 laptops yes 3 laptops from the same owner. I,ve aleady downloaded the 1183v21.exe file from the toshiba site and created the flash diskette but like i told you in the previous comment i am not able to flash the BIOS i tried to localise the Eprom to change/replace it but i cant find on the MOBO. My problem is when i put a new HD in one of these laptops the HD become "infected" and the laptop tells me he doesnt see the HD.

    And when i put one of the HD in an working withn no problem laptop i take out its original HD and put one of these in then the laptop become also infected (BIOS) and tell me it cannot find any HD. not even when i replace the original HD back in the laptop same story. So i "Fucked Up already 3 laptops i am giving up.

    Thank you for your assistance **** Doe

Hi

Thx for the reply. I think for the meantime we will stict with the BIOS upgrade first. When done then we can sheck out the HDD.

Have you tried the BIOS by Floppy sticking with Toshiba's utility.
The current BIOS v.1.10 is Initial BIOS for Satellite 1800, download ACPI Flash BIOS version 2.10 for Satellite 1800/1805-Sxx4 - http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/1183v21.exe from a Windows PC. Run "1183v21.exe" to extract the files to a folder. Check the readme file for installation info

****Extract from ReadMe File******
A DOS batch file, INSTINFO.BAT is provided in the ZIP archive which will create the BIOS installation diskette.
If all else fails, you can execute the self-extracting diskette image manually. This file is named 1349D21.EXE , and needs a parameter of A: (1349D21 A:) to successfully create the diskette in drive A:

Need users manual

Hi,

There are 16 different Satellite L505 models. There is a number after L505, like "L505-6826"

Go to this page and at the top of the page is product support. Choose "laptop computer > satellite > then your model number. There is an online manual that you can read from their web site, or download it to your computer. Here's the link (if link is not active, copy and paste into your browsers address bar): http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp#

Hope this helps.

Toshiba laptop

Hi,

Appreciate the "Ask Me".

On your post, pls try:
  • click on Start, Control Panel, Network Connections;
  • right click on Local Area Connection;
  • click on Properties;
  • click on Configure Button;
  • click on Advanced tab;
  • highlight Connection Type, in the Value box, select Auto-Negotiation;
  • you may be asked to reboot.
You could also try the 100 Base Tx Full Duplex or the 100 Base Tx Half Duplex.

It would seem that the orange led indicates a 100mbps connection while the green is for 10mbps.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Since you can not see anything on you're display, the back light may be defective & may need replaced. The goal here at FixYa is to help you find a fix. With that in mind can I suggest you click on this next link that will take you to a friend, here at FixYa. He has more experiance with notebook repairs than I.

Processor??

Hi,

While I would suggest additional memory (if PC is capable) rather than a change of processor, there are still a couple of actions that can be done to increase the efficiency of a PC. Please refer to this posting of a very similar concern.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

I have purchased a wireless router and cannot find the icon on my laptop

Hi,

In some Toshiba laptop, there is a small switch at the right hand side. If I remember right, it is a small blue button. It's pretty small. Alternately, some versions have it in front/right side.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FIXYA.
