Question about Heating & Cooling
Sounds like the regulator is out of sync. You have to be sure the gas isn't flowing too quickly. There are two gas burner nozzles - one is for house natural gas the other for a propane set up. Be sure this is the correct one and the correct regulated pressure.
If the pressure is TOO MUCH it will blow the flame out before it starts. Check the flame as you attempt to start it - does it blow out or does it just go out?
In closing I think it is your regulator that needs attention.
