Question about Canon PowerShot A1100 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

Design defect I have been a long time user of Canon Digital Cameras. I began with the Canon Powershot S200, Powershot S330 and graduated to an EOS Rebel XT. Beginning when I first uploaded pictures to my Macintosh Powerbook from my trusty S200, I was literally blown away with the quality of the photos. One most sentimental experience I had with your camers was after I bought a new home outside Buffalo, NY. My mother was 90 and living in a nursing home in Central New York. She was very interested in seeing my new home, but her condition made it unwise to put her through a two way road trip that would have taken 2 1/2 to 3 hours. My solution was with my Canon S200. I took about 50 pictures and loaded them on the Mac Powerbook. With what equaled a Real Estate salesman's sales presentation, I was able to spend a wonderful afternoon in my mother's room showing her the wonderful pictures that I was able to take with the S200 and show on the Mac Powerbook. Since I have the EOS Digital Rebel, which I am considering upgrading, I had relegated the S330 to taking eBay pictures for my hobbies of collecting Fountain Pens, Decoys and Vintage Woodworking Tools. Recently, the S330 bit the dust and was placed in the same drawer as the trusty S200. I needed to get a new work camera for my hobby needs, placing fountain pens, vintage woodworking tools and decoys on the web in the various web sites such as the Zoss Pen List and Tools.com for show trade and sale. My first move was to buy another Canon Powershot. Because of the effect Digital Cameras had on the market, [I wish I had pictures of a recent estate sale where the contents of a well known Buffalo Camera Store were packed in the huge basement of a Williamsville Ranch House], I was delegated to either Walmart or Target in the Buffalo to get at least a hands on experience with any camera I wanted to buy. My problem and the reason I am writing you resulted from my purchase of a Canon PowerShot A1100 IS. I had taken a series of pictures for eBay with a friends Nikon point and shoot and I placed the new A1100 IS in a drawer. Finally, after several months during which I had lost my receipt after paying cash for the camera in Walmart, I took the 1100 out to shoot some pictures of a series of tools I had acquired from several estates. It was here I recognized a problem in your design of the 1100. I should note that I am a Ph.D. level scientist, who also has a Juris Doctor [a law degree] and with all my hobbies and work in Patent Law, I am easily able to recognize design defects. I feel that the door or latch that must be opened each time to access the A1100 memory and battery slots, compared to those in the earlier S200 or S330 model, leaves much to be desired. It is quite flimsy and I feel, just waiting to break off. When I recognized this, I returned to the Walmart Camera Department. Although the clerk said all was perfect with the camera, except the fact that the package was opened, the service people would not credit me to purchase another camera without the original receipt. After a good deal of dancing around, a situation lawyers are skilled at inducing, the customer service rep suggested I write you at Canon to seek some resolution . I purchased the camera at the Walmart on Transit Road in Williamsville, NY. Could you suggest what options you might have for me. I have even sought to search for New Old Stock Canon Cameras on line to see if I might purchase a new-old S330. STICKONTHEICE52@gmail.com STICKONTHEICE52@gmail.com

Defective mechanism,  a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.

Powershot A310 not able to sense the objects

Normally there are two reasons for the given problem. 1). Bad or defective CCD. and/or 2). shutter not working. in the first case the only solution is the replacement of the CCD. and in the later case sticking of shutter blade, non functioning of shutter blade will cause the problem. This can be rectified by sending it to some repairer.
