You can buy one off of ebay. You need to know which ps3 system you have so you get the right one. For instance Sony has 2 different power supply units. One has 3 wire the other has 4 wire. However most of the motherboards on ebay are broken. Just need to be patient to find a working board for your system. YOu could also buy a broken ps3 off of ebay and hope it is broke due to other issues, after all you want a good motherboard.

How to fix ylod myself ps3

Hi there selina holt
What you have described is the cause of hardware failure internally due to over heating.

There are 2 chips inside the PS3 one is the GPU (graphics processor unit) and the other is a CPU (brain) They are both soldered on to the motherboard. as these chips give off a lot of heat it can crack the solder causing he chips to lose connection with the motherboard. This can cause all sorts of problems like the YLOD, THE 3 BEEPS, THE RED LIGHT ERROR.

so this is my advice.
1. if your in warranty you should really call sony as they can repair or even replace the PS3 and this is for free.
2. If your out of warranty or don't have the $150 repair costs then I would use a PS3 repair guide ( like I did to fix the YLOD). Its easier than it sounds and can be done at home.

I hope I have helped you and please can you rate my post (good or bad) as I have several pages of unrated posts.
Many thanks

Getting vertical lines through screen w/ PS3. I've eliminated periphals including TV, Game/video disc's, ports on unit and narrowed it down to a system issue. Upon turning console on I am unable to even...

This seem to be an issue with one of the electronic components on the main board for the video section. Check for bad resistors, leaky/swollen capacitors, bad ICs, etc. Mostly look for components in the video scetions. See if you can obtain an service manual and go thur the troubleshooting steps there.

PLEASE VOTE IF THIS WAS HELPFUL. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS.

PS3 No audio video

This problem happens with some of the PS3's and it is a motherboard issue. The PS3 motherboard needs to be reflowed using a reflow station. I have one of these stations on it's way to be able to fix this issue if you still have this problem. You can contact me at ced70@hotmail.com for more details.

Thanks,

If it is what I think it is read below, but just in case please clarify what lights you are seeing on the front before it shuts off.

Be careful, you cannot replace the motherboard simply. The particular blu ray drive logic board and motherboard are paired together with an encryption key when sony builds it. The drive will not work with another motherboard. You need to get a new blu ray board and motherboard that came from the same unit. More of sony's cheap tricks to make you spend moolah. Espescially after it seems they break righttt after the warranty goes out.

Looking for a PS3 60GB model motherboard for replacement

You can't just replace the motherboard, the blu-ray is tied to the motherboard number, so if you put in a new motherboard it won't read blu-ray games anymore. Check http://www.edepot.com/playstation3.html to find out how it is tied to the motherboard.

Ps3 power supply

Sony will not sell any parts for the PS3 because they want you to send it in for repairs and charge you for it.
I never heard of "tired power supply".
It's either working or not.
I sell parts sometimes on ebay.
Contact me at bubulica2000@yahoo.com. I can let you know when i have one available if interested.
