New Samsung Tv High pitched hum

By Cassidy313 on Mar 24, 2008

" "
I purchased a new 26 inch Samsung LCD Tv and noticed after a few days that there was a high pitched hum coming from the top end of the TV that could be easily heard from 15 feet at low volume levels. I took the TV back to Future shop and they gave me a new one. I also purchased a clean power bar and a digital cable box and plugged everything into the clean power bar. The hum is back.
I have purchased a new dvd player and hooked it up to the TV in Component Video. I have split the Cable so that one goes to the TV (little kids use that remote) and the other enters the cable box and then enters the TV using the AV mode.

What can I do to get rid of the hum. It drives me nuts.

I bought this TV through Amazon.com a few weeks ago. It works great but recently (I don't watch much TV) I've heard a high-pitched hum coming from the TV. It sounds like a slightly muffled teapot whistle. It's awful! I have Bose speakers hooked up and can still hear the hum even if they're at a high volume! Has anyone found out what causes it, or how to fix it?

-   My Samsung LN-T3253H TV is whistling after it's been on for awhile. It is SO annoying! The whistling continues even when the sound is muted.I alo have a report in to Samsung and they are sending a technician out. I heard there was a bad part in some models that they will replace. I uploaded my circuit city receipt on the repair request web site. I hope they can fix it! -   Guest

-   I recently purchased a samsung #LN2653H from sears. It was a floor model and what I thought was a great deal. Now a horrible high pitched noise comes out of the back, and this noise lingers in my ear long after the set is turned off. I don't think I have a warranty because it was a floor model but can still purchase the extended warrantyfrom sears. Does anyone know if this warranty will help, or does samsung stand behind sears floor models?-   Guest

-   I'm experiencing the same high pitched noise. I too have Bose system connected with the TV volume programmed off. The high pitched whistle is heard best when Bose system sound is muted. Noise definately coming from TV electronics.

Noise began after ~3 months of service.

I purchased this Samsung LN-T3253H through Buy.com, Dec. '07-   Guest

There is a specific reference to this condition on the Samsung support website. My new LN-T3253H had the same whistling problem when I first started using it. Several days into use the whistle has subsided somewhat. I entered a tech support case on the Samsung support site and Samsung is sending a technician to my home to perform a repair - no charge as unit is still under full manufacturer's warranty.

The best answer is to return the set to the store and get a different brand. This set was made with this problem. If you complain to Samsung customer support they should get you a defferent tv or a new power supply board for this set.

Don't know if people are still having this issue or not but figured I'd post what i went through to help anyone that has. My LN-T3253H tv as out of warranty when I finally got around to calling Samsung. They flat out lied about the commonality of this problem and I convinced them to at least pay for any parts. Problem is the labor of a technician would be around $150. So, I bought the new power supply from Partstore.com for around $70. Just go to partstore.com and enter your model number and look for the power supply on the page. It took 3 days to get the part. It was very easy to replace. All you have to do take off the back cover of the tv (think there were around 12 screws all around the outside and one where the A/V connections are and pull off. Unhook the plugs going to the power supply and the four screws holding the board and then replace with the new board. So far, this fixed the issue. Keep your old board in case it starts happening again. You can probably have the old board repaired to fix the original problem since so many TV repair shops are aware of the issue. I am trying to find out from someone which specific capacitor or other piece is causing the issue and plan on fixing it myself. If and when I do, I will also post that.

Make sure you give Samsung a ton of grief when you speak to them and see if they lie to you also. I had just bought two of the new Samsung LED TV's for my media room. They work great but I returned both because of Samsung's refusal to fix my LN-T3253H and I will never, ever buy Samsung products again.

I have the exact same problem! The first time I immediately returned it to Futureshop for a replacement. A few months have gone by and now the noise is back with my second TV. The noise occurs after the TV is on for 30 mins.
