SOURCE: GE Triton XL Dishwasher
My Triton XL soap dispenser still has a clump of soap after the cycle has finished. My glasses are left with a cloudy film, and my silverware is left marked with film on it. I have cut down on the amount of detergent, and have not overfilled. I have also tried using white vinegar as the manual states. Any suggestions? Thank you

sounds like you have a bad water valve solenoid, however their is a float switch on inside btm floor frt of dish washer that senses the level and cuts off the valve, however if the valve is bad then it will never shut off. good thing you were home. i would replace the water valve, that is located behind the front access panel . hope this helps

Testimonial: "Thanks. that's what I figured. I just need to figure out how to get at the valve without pulling the dishwasher out."
I would check your fill valve screen, where your water line connects to
the dishwasher, lots of times i will see that screen clogged,
especially on customers homes that have wells.
There is no way to change the fill time on these.
There is also the potential problem with the float sticking if it is gunked up it will not allow water in...see that it moves up and down freely and you should here a clicking noise.....If it is not one of these there could be a problem...with the timer...I am providing a link that will help walk you through this problem in a more technical...manner...if you are not comfortable performing these tests...i suggest you forego it and let a tech handle it....
this is one continuous link.....you can scroll down until you see the won't issue.
I hope this helps ..good luck, have a good day& please rate my effort......The Fang

The GE GSD5500 has a check valve in the rear of the unit under the FILTER FRAME that screws in. GE part WD24X10018.
The white rubber stopper wears out and lets water return to the tub!
Remove filter frame (4 screws) and unscrew the check valve to replace. Try appliancepartspros.com for part # AP2617344.

SOURCE: Water won't come into dishwasher
The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. First Check to see if the valve is getting water. Make sure it’s not clogged. There is a screen on the inside of the valve, this sometimes gets clogged up with debris. Check to see if you get power to valve when unit is put into operation may take a couple minutes to start a fill. If you have power and it’s not clogged up replace the valve .If you have no power to the water inlet valve check float switch. This can be done by checking the continuity. There is a video of this at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you checking the water inlet valve and the float switch. It may be a different model but the testing procedure will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations for most
