Heat is not always coming on in dryer. Roper dryer from Lowes

When I turn on the dryer, sometimes the heat comes on and drys in one cycle. Most of the time the heat initally comes on then turns off. It takes 2 or 3 cycles to dry clothes. We tore apart dryer and can feel the heat come on, but when put back together, it would not heat. problem seems to be intermittant. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. We wonder if it is in the dial or thermostat.

There are numerous temperature sensors on the dryer. Some are near the drum, some could be near the lint filter if it is located inside the dryer door. Try changing these first as they are an in expensive fix. It could also be the heating coils themselves. Highly unlikely it would be the dial, unless the dial was accidentally turned in the wrong direction.

My dryers timer wouldn't work correctly and the clothes were taking forever to dry. I decided to check the vent. My advice....Always check your dryer vent before spending any money on unnecessary parts or service calls. This Nest was pulled out of my vent with my shop vac sucking out and my house vac blowing out from inside. It finally broke free and now my dryer works like new. I have a 7 cycle ele dryer (roper) my dryer is heating up but won't dry my clothes and.very little heat coming out from vent I had a new heating element put on what can be wrong with my dryer please...

Hello,

When your dryer heats yet does not dry the clothes its usually always a poor air flow problem. What needs to checked is for lint build up in the blower housing,a chushed and or restricted vent from the rear of the dryer or anywhere to where it exits the house.

I have a Kenmore Elite dryer. It drys very inconsistently. Sometimes it works great. Other times it takes multiple cycles to dry.

My heating element is not working on my roper dryer just replaced the coil what else can it be

first check the power coming to the dryer,is it 220v. next make sure the heat setting is on heat. if all good i would remove the back, disconect power, then ohm out the thermostats. there should be a white plastic one with two wires this is your thermo-fuse most often the one that goes if it is open replace it and your cycling thermostat and high-limit. make sure your house venting is clean and not kinked up. good luck!

Roper brand electric dryer will not stay hot

Sounds like it may be short cycling on the Hi Limit instead of the operating thermostat. Only way to be sure is to measure the temp inside the drum while operating with a load. Another way is to measure the voltage across the Hi Limit and it should always be zero. Lots of juice (240VAC) back there and safety is paramount.
