I want to scan documents and save them in a pdf file format, but my scanner does not seem to offer that option.

Do you have the full software installed? Is Adobe Reader installed? (Install it if it isn't on the computer.) If you have the HP Solution Center (Windows) installed, launch the program. Then choose Scan Document. Cancel the scan and choose Settings. Click on Scan Settings and then Document Settings. You should be able to find the Save as PDF option there. Then make sure check the box for checking settings before scanning and save your new settings. Click on the Home button and scan your document.

If you choose Scan Picture, you will not get the Save as PDF option. If you are launching the scans from the all-in-one, you may need to adjust the scan button defaults elsewhere in the solution center. (The software you choose as a scan to destination may limit the available file types in the HP scan software.)

If you do not have the HP full software installed, unplug your data cable (if USB) and uninstall the driver that is currently installed. Go to and select your OS version. Click Next. Expand the section marked Driver and choose the full software. Download and install the software and replace the data cable when prompted to do so.

I hope this helps.

I have hp officejet j4660. when I try to scan, the message appear: no scan options, refer to device documentation to troubleshoot

no scan option means scan setting are not set on the printer. Before you can scan directly from the printer control panel, you must have the printer's Full Feature software package installed on your computer .If you ran the installer and installed everything, then scanner software should be installed on the pc.there must be solution center icon on the computer,as well.Below are the troubleshooting steps for no scan options issue. STEP 1:Download the Scan Diagnostic Utility (click on the link below) download and run the the product and click on diagnose.if the printer is not in the box.skip this step. STEP 2: Set up the scan destination list
  • click on the solution center icon on the computer
  • click on settings on the bottom, click on scan settings, click on either setup or button settings
  • click on scan to setup (front panel list)
  • if this is what you have, then you should transfer all items on the left- hand side to the right-side by clicking on one item and clicking on add until everything is on update device.

  • it should look like this.
  • sayurisan20_18.jpg
  • try scanning to pc again
  • you can also try to scan from the pc using the solution center software
  • if the steps above fails, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the software or check this link out for no scan options

Image Runner 3300 or (iR3300) copiers do not come with print/scan OPTIONS installed. These functions must be enabled by installing the correct 'kit'....same with fax option...again, these were 'options' when this machine was introduced, no print, scan, fax,...unless options were added to it. Yes, the buttons are there, however.....

Cannot select scan to destination

To get scan options on your unit you need to update the destination list on HP Solution Center. Please perform the steps given below to populate the destination list.

Populate the destination list:

You must populate the destination list in HP Solution Center for the Scan To options on the unit. Follow these steps to populate the destination list.

NOTE: HP Solution Center is the software that came with the product. You must make sure the software is installed on the computer for all the product functions to work correctly. The software is also necessary for completing this procedure. Install HP Solution Center if it is not already installed.
  1. From HP Solution Center, select the appropriate product, and then click Settings.
  2. Click Scan Settings and Preferences.
  3. Click Scan to... Setup.
  4. Click the Destination List tab.
NOTE: It might take several minutes for the list to populate.
  1. Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
  2. Click the Add arrow. The program listing moves from the left side of the screen to the right.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Now Press scan button on your All-in-One and check whether the scan options are updated.
  5. If the scan options are still not updated then turn off and on your All-in-One and verify the results.

How do i scan photo's to my computer?

If you have the software installed that came with the printer then that has the facilities you need. It will step you through the process offering you options to improve the scan results.

If you have microsoft office (pre 2007) then there are also some easy options to scan documents or pictures directly into your work.

Many other graphics programs also have the option of "aquire image from"

These sort of options also make it easy to scan and fax if you have a modem installed.
