Question about Acer Aspire AM1640-U1401A Desktop PC

1 Answer

Acer Aspire m1640 no display.

User has damaged monitor port. I've tried an PCI and Pcie vid card and still getting no display. Is there a jumper that will force the video to look for either slot?

As far as I know there is no jumper. Look in the BIOS and see if you can point it to PCI or PCI-Ex. Also make sure you have the right memory and its seated. Have you tried a different monitor? These are the things I would look into first.

Is the computer booting? Fans spin? LED's blink? Sound? Have you tried another monitor? If so, check and reseat ALL cables. The specs indicate you have Integrated NVidia 7050 Graphics Adapter. You may need a aftermarket PCIe x16 Graphics Card to install in a open slot. Verify the cables are good and the monitor works on another computer first.

No display

If you have intagrated graphics it might be problematic or possibly bad. Try a different monitor. If that does not work then you could try an add-in ..either PCIe or PCI graphics card to see if that works. I no luck there then the motherboard is most likely DOA.

My acer aspire m1640 crashed and now when i turn it on nothing happens the monitor says no signal

Sound like a bad motherboard. You are getting the error because no signal is been sent to the monitor. Make sure the memory is inserted properly and firmly. Check all other cards and plugs are all inserted and firmly sitted. and try to boot the system, if nothing stll happen, you may have a bad motherboard

Install ATI Radeon X1550 PIC on Acer Aspire E650

If you think the PC boots up but just no screen, check the Graphics settings in BIOS for first/initial diaplay with PCI instead of other Graphics Ports (on board/PCIe/PCI/AGP)? Disable on board display if any.

Disabling onboard video on Acer aspire m1640

you cannot dissable the on-board graphics in the bios, in the graphic options you must choose which port you want to use, if you have a pci express card then chose pci as the primary graphics, press ok then F10 your pc will reboot and the on-board vga won't load up in windows

good luck

Installing a pcie vid card

as for the pcie slot you need to enter the startup setup and choose the graphics card that your computer uses which is mainly the "integrated periferals" menu, then choose that the pcie card is your primary graphice card or simply disable your older card.
