Can't Install HP LJ P3005 to XP

Install the motherboard drivers first or during setup when prompted.
Windows does not include drivers for specific PCs.

If you have driver CD, install it.. you may use a non genuine toner cartridge, check another working cartridge

Wait for software install to prompt you to connect it and you'll be fine as long as cable is in securely and printer isnt damaged. - Erick

To setup a printer you'll require:

• A Printer
• An USB cabel or Wireless Card(if want to setup wireless printer)
• Driver disc & it'll be shipped with the Printer
• Last but not least, 15-20 minutes.

Unpack the printer carefully, plug the USB cabel in the printer. Don't connect it to the computer & turn on the Printer & here's what you need to do.

1. Step 1 Set up your computer on your desk so that you are able to plug in your printer and other accessories in an orderly way. The PC is the center of your home office and all things should be setup in relation to this. Consider how you’ll run cables before selecting a location.
   
2. Step 2 Assemble your printer. Few printers are ready to go out of the box. Open it up carefully and pull out the quick setup instructions. This usually entails affixing trays and installing toner and drums.
   
3. Step 3 Decide on a method. Wired or wireless? Wireless will save you a lot of hassle but if you are on a tight budget wired does the job as well.
   
4. Step 4 Install the drivers. Insert the CD that came with your printer into your computer and install the drivers before connecting your printer.
   
5. Step 5 Connect with cables. Using a USB cable or a parallel cable, connect your printer to your computer. USB cables have a trapezoid shaped plug on the end that goes into the printer and a rectangle shaped plug that goes into the computer. Parallel cables will have holes on the computer end and pins on the printer end.

Go to www.hp.com and let the website auto-detect your printer and down load the drivers automatically

Mkae sure you download the correct drivers from www.hp.com . The cd that comes with the unit usually only has windows XP drivers on it.

Check that the firewall either windows or other is not active and not allowing you to install drivers. Also if your computer is in user mode and does not have the right to install drivers login as administrator mode and install drivers through there.

Once deactivated firewall install new drivers should be OK then.

Try changing the driver for your HP LJP3005 on your XP machine. Use it with the HP LJ Series II driver.
