Try a usb mouse in the usb port then wiggle mouse, then do a system restore back to the point that it worked. then reboot while rebooting ie the couple of seconds its off remove usb mouse.

@qqhampton: Crappy way to try to fix his computer!

@beachguppy: Just check device manger "highlight anything" then right click select "Scan for hardware changes" If nothing is red or yellow it IS a hardware problem. I had same problem and had to send back to Fujitsu to fix this Exact SAME problem. A system restore will NOT fix this problem you are having. Watch out as my USB'S start acting up a day after the mouse problem. When I sent in to Fujitsu, They fix and sent it back to me FREE of Charge. I hope this will help you get your computer fixed. :-)

Use a temporary external USB mouse, Click Start button from your laptop. Type "mouse" in Search Program & Files, click mouse under control panel. click Hardware tab, click properties, click change settings, click driver tab, check if the device is enable or click update diver or rollback driver if necessary.

Optical mouse doesn't work.

sounds like a driver issue. try to update the driver for it. if it says you're using the most up to date version, then uninstall the driver, visit the manufacturer's website, download the driver, and reinstall it. If that doesn't work, then the hardware itself may be busted.

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook N6410. Sys. MS Window XP 2002. Is there a way to prevent the cursor from jumping when typing. It apparently is caused by accidentally sweeping over the touch pad.

Go to Control Panel > Mouse > USB Mouse Connection > Select Mouse pad is automatically invalidated.
This setting turns off the mouse pad whenever a USB mouse is connected.

Deactivate touchpad on fujitsu notebook

You can try pressing the FN+F6, and a USB mouse can work with the Touch Pad.

Plus, try this software:
http://download.cnet.com/Mouse-Manager/3000-2381_4-10791427.html

This software is designed for these people who use several mouse.
For example, a person uses notebook PC and installed USB mouse as well.
it can set the different work state for each mouse and quickly switch primary and secondary buttons .

Mouse pad'

There are no FREE service manuals for your particular laptop available as far as I know. Fujitsu Simens are pretty stingy with that information. I did find a place you can download it for a cost of $6.00 USD . That gets you what you need, and in the event something else were to go wrong with your laptop, $6.00 isn't much to spend for documentation detailing the disassembly of a unit like yours.
