Good day,
Higher numbers are always colder. 1 is warmest.
Be aware, the manufacturers do not usually let you get into trouble. For example, 1 might be + 4 degrees whereas 5 would be - 4 degrees. Neither would get the average user into trouble.

Do the arrows pointing up make the freezer colder or warmer?

Logically it would be warmer. Up = higher temp; down = lower

What does the temp display on the freezer tell me?

unless this is a dedicated freezer only and not a side by side or over/under , there's no way it's going to get down too 0 degrees inside a warm home , nope not gonna happen

also its not good for you to set this there as compressor wont cycle properly there and entire freezer will ice up , then believe it or not it will get warmer not colder wastes a lot of power as well

Temperature control are the lower numbers colderr or warmer?

Hi there, the higher the number the colder the fridge, unless the numbers are in degrees. If it's numbered 1-6, 6 is the coldest. -Alex

Temperature

If this unit has a control it would be located on the outer left side in the lower right hand corner. There would be a dial, the higher the number the cooler the temperature. Many of these chest freezers did not have an adjustable control.

Meat along the outside seems to be thawing out.

HI, If you want the temp warmer, move the control to the smaller #'s
If there are no #'s, turn the control clockwise and see if it shuts off. if it shuts off, that is the right direction for warmer temps.
I hope this helps you. please let me know.

I have an Upright freezer. I don't know which exact model I have. (I think the 14.1 Cu In Frigidaire) How do I warn the freezer up a liitle bit? Its too cold.

Here is a link that can help. Let me know what you find while you look at the PDF. Is this your refrigerator? Let me Know, Thanks, Sea Breeze.
Temp. control should be on page 4 part number 18 Turn left for warmer or right for colder. If this don't work then the control will need replaced.

i belive that the temp select you can choose temp, but when the min temp is selected, the next choice is OF, try resesting the control to a warmer/ or colder temp.

Temperature control

I have a danby mini fridge and freezer and noticed the same problem. The temperature dial has NO NUMBERS ON IT! it just has a strip that goes from light to dark blue. That's it. I looked in the manual and it doesn't say anywhere which way is colder...it makes sense that the darker the blue the colder the temperature but why keep us guessing?

Continues to run

It seems your temp. control board or thermistor is not reading the temps and just keeps on running and running. Can you lower it to the lowest setting and (with a thermometer) see if the temps actually get warmer inside (will take a day or two to warm up). As for the ice on the bottom if the drain for the defrost cycle is plugged you may be getting water inside which then re-freezes. Let us know what you find and we can go from there.
