My hammer drill got overheated

The hammer drill shut off after a friend ran it until it got super hot. Is this a internal safety or is the gun shot?

It sounds like you have a bad seal or O-ring. without takeing it apart and looking at it myself i cant tell you witch one is bad.if take it apart look the orings and seals over reall well and se if you can find any distorted places on them and then you can find a breakdown of the nailer and buy the seals or O-rings on this site.

How do I get a drill bit out of the shaft of my rotary hammer drill snapped in it. No bit showing.

unmount the locking rings pins or ball of the toolholder while chisel is inside its possible make the parts short time hot with a burner not to long (where safety glasses ) and leather apron in case of splinters that can come off . spray some wd 40 on the hot part before use a bench vise to set the chisel in with machine on it and the beveled edge of the benchhammer on the front of the tool holder and with a second hammer beat the other site on the benchhammer to work slowly the machine will come off from the chisel. in most cases the drill guide has been worn out from the chuck in case off a cheap rotary hammer it make no sense to do it all. because it has had it working hours on it.

Bosch 11224VSR drills and hammers but not both. Makes loud stripping noise.

If both functions, hammering & drilling, work correctly on their own but not together your selector knob may be the issue. On the back of the knob is a driver pin that moves the necessary parts to make your tool drill, hammer, or both. If it isn't moving those parts to the exact right place, one or more of the functions may not work. Try moving the selector halfway between positions and see if the gun hammer-drills. If it does you have problems with the selector or drive pin. If it still does not you may have internal parts problems that can only be diagnosed by working on the tool with the knowledge of how it works and how everything inside should be.

I have a dewalt 18v cordless hammer drill but for some reason while drilling the drill does not spin as fast as it used to batteries are fine just the drill any ideas

depends on where you drilling- wood - no hammer option needed- fast, metal- no hammer option needed- also fast, but it is concrete- sorry- hammer option needed so it will always drill slower, and drain your batteries way faster (have a spare one ready).Speaking about drilling - don't drill for too long with no breaks to cool them down, always keep an eye on gun's and battery's temperature- even if it is new Lithium NANO, do not let them overheat.
BTW- what model is yours? Is It SDS hammer drill sort of DC212KL?
