Question about Sony DCR-SR65 Flash Media Camcorder

Open Question

I can't transfer video to my MacBook

I have a DCR-SR65 HDD camera. I've had it for a awhile now and still can not figure out how to get the videos into my i movie. It automatically opens iphoto, and I cannot for hte life of me get it to transfer as video. When i bought this at the store, i asked if this camera was compatable with Macs and they said yes. This is supposed to be an "easy to use" camera and i have spent hours trying to figure this out. I know other people have the same problem. I'm working on a deadline, can anyone help me out?!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: transfer video to computer (sony dcr-trv38)

I had a same issue but now I found one way using the fireware that comes with the DCR-TRV38. I tried on my windows XP service pack 2.
1. hook up the fireware cable both in sony and the computer. If your computer does not have fireware card, you need one.
2. switch the camera button from "off" to "camera"
3. after few seconds you will see new hardware found and will ready for use. you may also see pop up window to capture the video if you have Microsoft Windows Movie Maker (WMM).
4. open the editing s/w and capture the video. I used the WMM which gives many option to capture the video (ie:DV-AVI, high quality format and many more)

hope this helps.

SOURCE: Cannot transfer video from camera to PC

i will give you a step by step on your camcorder.

  • connect your camcorder using your USB cable to your computer and be sure it is ON
  • Install the cd driver camed with your camcorder. if you didnt prompt on looking for a driver then go to the add hardware on the control panel and follow the procedure there.
  • after the installation you should see the icon on the my computer labeled scanners and cameras and indicating the model of your camcorder.
  • Install Ulead Power Producer or any editing movie that you have like Windows movie maker, nero movier maker etc.. i prefer to use Ulead because its so easy to use
  • after uploading and editing your videos using ULEAD save it on any various types of videos that you like. you should see it after you want to save it.
  • burn your videos on NERO software
Hope you understand my procedures. Good Luck!

If your cam has a firewire connection, you could plug it into the macbook and use iMovie to transfer the videos over. You can also get an external DVD drive to put those tiny DVDs into to transfer it over.
