Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Regrettably you will need to buy a relpacement cyclone top of this part has failed.

You can buy one direct from Dyson via our website at www.dyson.co.uk at a cost of £31.28. Post and packing is free of charge.

I hope this information is useful to you.

Kind regards

Trigger on my dc07 does not open cylinder flap, what can i do

Hi Stephen,
This is a pretty uncommon problem and it is not terribly easy to fix. I suspect Dyson became aware of it and changed the mechanism as I have only seen this issue with Dyson DC07. Basically there is a long plastic rod from the trigger to the bottom flap when you pull on it the latch is released and the flap opens. Your plastic rod has most likely broken. The unfortunate thing is you cannot buy that rod you might have to buy the complete radix assembly. It normally happens that the bottom end breaks off when someone holds the base in place and pulls the trigger.
If this is the case then you may be able to super carefully glue the pieces back together. Watch the video I linked below it shows how to get the radix apart. The tricky part for you is that you will then need to insert a coat hanger or some other slim long thing into the centre and manually push the release which is right at the base of the radix in the middle this will release the flap.
From there see if you can find the broken bit and repair the pieces. Super glue wont hold, you will need araldite or some other super strong compound.
Of course if this sounds like too much trouble just buy a new radix.

I have a Dyson DC07 upright vacuum I emptied the cylinder and the bottom lid fell off not sure how to reattach in case it breaks - any clues?

It has two little pegs that hold it onto the perspex cylinder. Really, it shouldn't fall off during normal use. Check one of the little pegs hasn't broken off. If it has, you need to replace the bin flap. If the pegs are OK, check the two mounting holes on the perspex cylinder. If you need to replace either, you can get them from here: http://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC07-spares.html as Dyson will not sell you cylinder components but those guys will.

My Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright does not click to stay in an upright position. It works but the handle falls to the floor.

This is a common fault with the Dyson DC07 (and other Dysons) unfortunately the clip that holds the handle upright hs broken. It can be repaired, but will cost a reasonable amount to have done... I would just live with the problem and prop the vacuum cleaner against a wall when not in use.

I have a Dyson Animal upright (purple). I took it apart to clean the cyclone chambers. When re-assembling the bottom closed before the opening rod was inserted. I can't get the opening rod installed with...

I looked in our DC07. I would try removing the top again and getting a long dowel or the opening rod, insert it down into the unit and PUSH. The opening rod opens the latch by pushing it, not pulling it. Here are some pictures of the latch. Top pic is in the unlock position. Bottom is the normal position.

I hope this helps.

Broken dust bin

You must replace the whole bin. Not sure where you can get it but if you take it in it for repair it will cost roughly 50-60 for the part plus labor.

Bottom of dirt container doesn't stay closed

The catch/latch that is on the bottom of the bin button release has likely broken.
If you take out the canister (as when you are dumping the bin), and flip it upside down and then squeeze the bin release button, you will see that it moves a rod inside the cyclone assembly.  At the end of this rod is a plastic (plastic.. redundant, as the entire Dyson is practically plastic) latch that catches onto the bin's lid and locks it in place.  A broken latch means it doesn't lock the lid in.
What you need is a replacement latch.  Note that the "Bin Release Button + Rod assembly" that are sometimes sold on ebay do *not* contain the latch at the end of the rod.  Also the bottom bin assembly does not contain the required parts.
The cyclone assembly should have the full bin release rod + latch, so if you can't find the latch, then a new cyclone assembly would work also (but will cost more, obviously).
