It should work straight away on skpe. Have you checked to see that the microphone check box is not checked? To do this right click on the speaker symbol (bottom right of tool bar if you are using XP)

Does my acer 5532 have a microphone

No, it has no built-in Microphone, you'll need external microphone to record voice or do audio calls/chats, etc.. Hope this helps.
Let me know if you need further help.
Good Luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi, Internal microphone on my acer aspire 8920g which originally has vista is not working now on windows 7. To be honest I didn't pay attention while I had vista and can't now remember if it worked at...

I suggest you go into control panel and device manager and see if your internal mic is listed there. If it is right click on it and see if it is selected as your default mic. I believe it may be un-selected. If that doesn't work I would just use the external mic with Skype as the internal mics with most laptops aren't that good anyway.

Is there an internal mic in my acer 5332? or just an external mic option?

I looked up the marketing specs for your laptop. These come directly from Acer. They claim hands free webcam communication. You can communicate freely with anyone using just your Acer 5332. Although I couldn't find a mic list in the technical specs, it has to be there. Goto START, Control Panel, Sound, Recording. If there's a microphone listed with a green checkmark, then you have an internal mic. If no mic icon then no mic. Goodluck

Acer Aspire internal mic won't work.

You need to check the record settings and make sure the mic is not muted or turned down to low. Click START, CONTROL PANEL, then SOUND icon. Click the AUDIO tab up top. Make sure that your sound card is selected in the drop down menu under Sound Recording. Now click VOLUME tab. A new window will open up. Click OPTIONS then PROPERTIES. Make sure you have a check by the MIC and click OK. In the Recording Control window, turn the level up for Microphone and make sure it is not muted. Let me know what happens.

CONNECTION TO SKYPE AND MICROPHONE

If you are using an external headset your Laptop should pop up the RealTek Management Window prompting for the device connection that the laptop has just detected and you will just click ok for mic and headphone and you are ready to run. The microphone on the laptop plataform and internal speakers work as well, I had no problems whatsoever.

Internal microphone not working

In the system preferences there should be a tab for input and, if you don't already have a USB headset or other external mic, then the internal mic should already be selected. You should be able to see in real time what the mic is receiving by talking. There is an input level bar that fluctuates. If this does not show anything, then you probably do have a problem with your mic. do this first though before checking out skype.

My microphone on my acer aspire one isnt working

This solution works for the Windows XP version. Go to msconfig.exe, then the Startup tab. UNCHECK rthdcpl and restart. Realtek driver doesn't load, but who cares...the microphone works now.

Built in Mic?

well, to find out if your computer has a mic open up the audio mixer (double click the speaker in the right hand side of you screen), if you do not see your microphone, go to Options>Properties, and select "microphone", then go to options, advanced controls, under microphone, if you see a "advanced" button, click it (if you dont see it, there is no internal mic), if you see Mic2 Select, you probably have a internal mic. Another way to find out if you have a internal mic is to go to the sound recorder, and see if you can record your self, However if your going to be using skype, i recommend you get an external mic
