Could have overheated because low on oil, the engine may not start until the computer is reset, a safty feature which keeps the engine from damage in such cases., Take it to a mechanic to reset the computer if you think the oil being low was the main issue.
If jumping the car off starts it and it will keep running, then you have a bad battery and need to replace it. If it starts the car and it shuts off again, you need to replace your alternator.
As for the oil situation, make sure there isn't an oil leak. And it isn't likely that there's an oil sensor.
Maybe you are low on oil and some cars are made like that to shut off when they run out of oil. So check the oil level and add as needed. if there is oil then maybe the oil pressure is low
I recommend a motorcycletransmission oil as it has the proper additives for a wet clutch. I like yamaha's trans oil plus for my bikes.10w40 motor oil will do in a pinch. and I like Yamaha's Yamalube S for oil injection systems.
