Question about Toshiba Satellite A45-S151 Notebook
The computer is not chargering even though the adapter is plugged in. I've always had a few challenges with the computer staying charged. I'm not sure if it's the adapter or the port? I see an amber light but not the green one...any sugguestions?
I cannot turn on with ac adaptor too. Have to try a few times berore power is on. Also I get stripes (vertical).

Take the battery out and turn it on with only the ac adaptor, then put the battery back in.

There is high possibility that your adapter is stuffed. Dell have built in a recognition circuitry
into the 65w adapters and when that goes, the system will no longer recognize
it as a 65w adapter even though it is still putting out 65w. The system then
shuts off the battery recharge circuit and to make matters worse it won't even
charge the battery when the computer is off. It also
speedsteps the processor down to half its speed so everything runs slower. Only
option is to stick with a slow computer that can't be used on batteries or buy
another ac adapter.
you do not want to pay $80 for a original adapter directly from dell,
there is an alternative choice to get an 3rd party charger, check this
