Question about Washing Machines

2 Answers

I've installed a Zanussi ZWF10020W Washing Machine. The instruction manual said I should our 2 litres of water through the main detergent panel (II - the middle one), then out in a half measure of detergent and run a 90 degree cotton wash (empty drum), which I have done. I'm running into a couple of problems. The wash cycle repeatedly stalls, with the stop start button flashing green. I had to unpause it a number of times (more than 5) before it eventually finished. I then checked the detergent drawer and the powder was still there, it hadn't been taken into the wash. Any idea what is going wrong?

Thanks a million. Would this be the cause of the programme stalling?

Hi.

If the detergent is still there, providing that you have used the right drawer section for the detergent (check the manual), that means that there is no inlet.

Ensure that the inlet hose at the back is properly connected, that there is pressure and that the hose is not bent or kinked.

If that is not the problem, then call the Zanussi number listed on the use and care manual. The technical support will diagnose if there is a fault.

If there is a fault it is either inlet valve, pressure switch, or timer control.

Regards.

My zanussi us leaking water as soon as it starts to fill. I've cleaned the pump and detergent door but no help. It's leaking from underneath somewhere

It sounds like there may be a split in the fill hose! Go to the Zanussi web sit and you should be able to buy one for a few £££. Take the top and back off your machine and you should see the hose if you follow the pipe where the water connects.

Kenmore 800 water in tub at end of cycle

This could be a blocked/air-locked filter. (a common occurrence not a fault.)

easy fix if so.

First. switch off the Machine at the socket.
Check your washing machine user manual for the location of the pump filter access screw. (Normally situated behind a front bottom clip out panel) ensure you have a few towels and a couple of pans/dishes at the ready before releasing the access screw, expect 2 or three litres of water to drain... and whatever is blocking the filter. (could just be an air blockage or a small object) replace the filter screw and clip off panel, switch on at mains.

Hope this helps.

What do these mean on a zanussi dishwasher model DE 6854

The top light is apparently to indicate that the salt (!) has run out.

The bottom light is apparently to indicate that rinse aid has run out.

For the record, that seems to be a Zanussi DE-6854 dishwasher, and I found the manual here: (link)

"Special salt can be added in one of two ways: 1) If you are using dishwasher detergent that already contains salt, the detergent including the salt is placed in the detergent compartment. - In this case the water softener must manually be set to 1 and electronically to 1 to ensure that the special salt is taken from the detergent container only. 2) If you are using dishwasher detergent and salt separately, the special salt is to be put into the salt container. - In this case the water softener must manually be set to 1 or 2 and electronically between 1 and 5 (depending on the water hardness in your area) to ensure that the special salt is taken from the salt container only. Only use salt specifically designed for use in dishwashers. All other types of salt not specifically designed for use in a dishwasher, especially table salt, will damage the water softener. Only fill with salt just before starting one of the washing programmes. This will prevent any grains of salt or salty water, which may have been spilt, remaining on the bottom of the machine for any period of time, which may cause corrosion." (Page 6)

"Only use branded rinse aid for dishwashers. Never fill the rinse aid dispenser with any other substances (e.g. dishwasher cleaning agent, liquid detergent). This would damage the appliance." (Page 7)

The manual also explains how to turn the Rinse Aid light off permanently if you do not wish to use rinse aid.

Good luck!

Zanussi zwf10020w washing machine wont fill with water

make sure that your water hoes connector (with the blue plastic knob) on top of the blue knob there is a screw,, undo the screw and take the plastic knob off,, with a pair of pliers and turn it half way with the machine now about to start,, that way you will know if it is that,, but it sounds like it is that.

Water left behind in filter reservoir

There is always water left in the filter at the end of the cycle. Tjis is unlikely to cause the smell problem though.
If you do a lot of 40 degree washes and use a biological detergent you can get a bacteria build up in the appliance which is very unpleasant.
To rectify this, run the appliance on a 90 degree wash with two spoonfuls of washing soda in the soap drawer. Allow the program to complete the cycle( no clothes though) and repeat once more. This should help clean the appliance.
Several appliactions may be required if smell persists.

The fabric softener doesn't go in...

The detergent dispenser is located above the detergent drawer. A water pipe is connected to it and water entrance and distribution to drawer's cells (following the programmed cycle)are done by a lever's movement (part of the dispenser). The lever movement is controlled by two solenoids that received their power from the timer. By opening upper machine's cover you will have an access to the dispenser. Disconnect the power cable from the machine before moving to next test !!!! Look first that they are not any disconnected wires. Move manually dispenser's lever and see if water running to all cells (depend on your movement). In case it doesn't work properly remove the unit from the machine and try to clean it (I hope it will help, otherwise you should replace the unit). In case it works properly (manually) - you should test by a multi-tester solenoid's resistance. the one that doesn't have a resistance measurement should be replaced. Good luck !!
