New graphics card problems with my Presario SR5350F...

I've just bought a Radeon HD 5670 PCI Express 2.1Bus 1 GB GDDR5 XFX graphics card for my Presario SR5350F. I upgraded my power supply with a Basiq plus 550 Watt ATX12V. However, when I connect my monitor cable to the graphics VGA slot, there is no display on my monitor; it's as if it's not reading the connection or the card itself. My onboard graphics allows me to connect the monitor cable to the monitor connection on my PC and that gives me a normal monitor display. My older graphics card, which is a Dimamond Viper Hd 2600 Pro PCIE512 MB GDDR2, worked just fine until the fan went out in it. Anyone know why I'm not getting at least a 'reading' from my new card? Thanking you in advance.

Make sure you plug in any auxiliary power cables are are required for the video card.

Is the card used. Has it ever shown signs of life?

Go into windows via integrated graphics and install the latest drivers.

After that I would go into your bios with integrated graphics and turn off intergrated graphics. Look around if there's like a setting that's like switch to PCIx graphics or something. After the restart try to use your monitor though your video card.

Will the asus p5d2v mx se motherboard support tha Ati hd 5670?

The PCIE slot on your mainboard is v1.0; this should work fine with a PCIE v2.0 card (which is backwards-compatible with v1.0), but not the v2.1 cards. Make sure you also check for power requirements of any potential card. If your PC has a stock PSU, it's quite likely that a PSU upgrade will also be needed.

Having driver compatibility problem with MSI R5670. screen freezed with blue and red dots with the latest driver.

What you see is called video corruption and it's a hardware fault - your video processor or memory chips are failing. Nothing to do with the driver. You will need to send the video card to the warranty repair shop, they will fix or replace it.

I will buy new graphics card ati radeon 5670 that need 400 w.. on my power supply says max 305 w and peak 400w... i dont know whats right.. does it have 305 w or 400w?

Hi karban0
It means your power unit could deliver max 400W in extreme conditions but only for a very short while ( one or two seconds or even less ) .
So , you could encounter great difficulties to get your pc running smoothly under heavy conditions , especially if you are a fervent game fan .
It would be wise to replace your power unit by one of a larger wattage . This is very easy and relatively cheep operation .

fanaudi .

Hi there!
This may be caused by the lack of power from your power supply. Try to run the card on a PC with a power supply of 600W. If the same problem still occur there is a problem on your graphics card and you should take it back and ask the store you bought it from to test it for you.
If there is a fault on the card and it is still under warranty they should replace the card for you with a new one.
Hope this will help you Kind regards Martin
