If the charger is rated only for 120 volts and it doesn't work after plugging it into 220, it is probably toast. Anything can be fixed, but unless you are a expert, it is probably cheaper to buy a new charger.

Will American power tool batteries work after being plugged into a 220 charger

Yep. they will as long as the 220 volt charger was connected to 220. If a 220 volt charger is plugged into 110 volts it may not charge the battery but no damage to the battery will happen.

How to convert 220 volts to 110 volts for the iPod Touch

The battery of an iPod Touch prepared for use in the United States is designed to be reloaded from the current supplied by a 110-volt electrical system. Have a two pole 80 amp push in breaker that is reading 220 on 1 load side and 120 on the other load side? how is this possible???

220 volts power to device. 120 volts is coil volts of the relay. when this 120 coil energized by control commanded, the 220 volts passes to device. When it de-energized, 220 cuts off to device.
How you are getting 120volts. It's from transformer 220-120 which will be in your unit.

I bougth reciprocating saw, model BJR 182Z and circle saw, BSS611Z while I was in the U.S.A.These tools use the 18 volt LXT Lithium-Ion battery BL 1830. I also bought this battery. However I am going to use...

Why can't you buy the 230 volt DC18RA charger in europe (amazon.europe country) and use it. I had the same issue yet i burned out the fuse in the 110 volt DC18RA charger because i plugged it into the wall just using an adaptor. Lesson learned. Therefore, my first solution was that i bought a converter from 220V-to 110 Volt. This showed me that my charger was done. So instead of getting another 110 volt charger sent here to Europe from Canada, I returned the converter and have on order a 230 volt input DC18RA charger from which has the same 7.2-18V output. I have been told this will work yet the fear, and I don't know why, is that it will burn out the batteries in a year or so. It is difficult getting specific information from Makita, but I hope it all works out. Best of Luck for you

I have the Makita DC18ra s charger for 110V. by mistake i insert it to 220and burn the fuse and a components as described on the borad VDR1 01 Do someone knew what is this components thank alon

yes you can fix it i have done 2 charges but white you are in there if you chance the large round capacitor to a 450v one you then can use the charger in 220 v you will have to increase the size of the voltage resistant diode to 240v (the vrd101 part in the charger) or by pass it with a straight bridge then the charger should work in 220v because the rest of the charger is exactly the same the parts will be around $10 ibought the parts from farnell
