I recently bought an '04 SUV with an overhead Liquid Video (aftermarket) dvd player. It consistently powers off after approx 5 mins of use, then it takes a couple of minutes to get it back on, after which it powers off again. Is there a do it yourself fix for this problem? Or is this something that would need to be professionally diagnosed and repaired?

Try this. Re-wire your 12v power source to remain in a constant "hot" state. ie: connected to battery instead of ignition acc. Then, when you want to turn units on or off, use the remote or buttons on headrests themselves. This method will leave power to the units when switched off so the internal memory can resume where you left off.
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT ON MINE I HAD TO REWIRE THE FAN WHERE IT HAD WENT OUT IT WAS REAL SIMPLE.JUST TAKE THE BACK OFF OF OT AND UNCLIP THE FAN WIRES AND SPLICE THEM INTO THE HOT AND GROUND WIRES THAT RUN RIGHT BESIDE IT (THE MAIN HOT AND GROUND) .IT WAS GOING TO COST ME 85 DOLLARS TO HAVE IT FIXED IT ONLY TOOK ME ABOUT 30 MIN.AND I DID IT MYSELF.GOOD LUCK
