2002 kia optima, loosing brake fluid and brakes are going all the way to floor. No visible leaks on ground.


i would check slave cylinder and master cylinder and make sure brake nipple are all nice and tight (not too tight)and make sure you have got all air out of the brake pipes .

How to bleed breaks


There's probably hundreds of YouTube videos showing the process. Your local auto parts stores will have bleeding kits to make the job easier. In a nutshell you goal is to get any air that may be in the brake lines out of those lines. With the bleeding kit and a bottle of brake fluid (check for the DOT specification your vehicle needs) and knpw-how, you can do it. This job is always easier with two people even though you can purchase a one-man brake bleeding lit.

Have a 98 deville northstar engine. When I put on the brake there is a clunking sound. Just had new brakes, rotors put on


make sure calipers are tight to their brackets. seen alot of mechanics leave these 2 bolts loose and the clunk u hear is the caliper smacking back n fourth when you hit brake. check that as well as making sure wheels are tight.

What are the proper steps to bleeding your brakes on a 1990 vw golf deisel


For left hand drive vehicles: (If the car does not have ABS system you do not need any diagnostic equipment!)

IMPORTANT NOTE: You need using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car in order to bleed the ABS block. Follow instructions by scantool equipment for bleeding the ABS block.


1. This bleeding procedure requires two people. Remove the brake system reservoir cap, and fill up with new brake fluid until "MAX" level is reached.
2. Lift the car, or use a channel for access under vehicle.
3. Put the gearbox in "N" - Neutral position, or in "P" - Parking position for automatic transmission.
4. Start the engine and push the brake pedal firmly for 4 - 5 times to the floor, and maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor.
5. Begin with the rear right wheel. Another person remove the dust cap and loose the brake caliper bleeding screw until the brake pedal goes to the floor. At this moment maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor, engine idling, and tight the brake caliper bleeding screw. Use a plastic hose: one end connected to the brake caliper bleeding screw, and another end inside a recovery bottle for used brake fluid.
6. Repeat steps no.#4 and no.#5 until no air flows through the brake caliper bleeding screw. Tight the brake caliper bleeding screw, and put the dust cap in their place.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All the time check the brake fluid level in the brake system reservoir, and fill up if necessary!

17. Test the car brake system. The brake pedal movement no more than 1/3 of total stroke until the floor, when brake pedal is applied. Maximum admissible is 1/2 of total stroke.

I have a '99 kawasaki vulcan 800, it has a rubbing sound near the back wheel and chain/sprocket area...could this be that the main bolt on back wheel is too tight.


Tighting the bolt very tight is OK but over doing it can collaspe the spacers. It's more likly that if loosing the bolt corrects the problem it's been put to gether wrong. Look at the bike bandit .com for your bikes rear wheel and see if yours has all the right parts in the right order. Maybe the rear brakes are worn out or something in the brake came loose. The chain and sprocket can make alot of niose. Axel not the same on both sides. chain dry or too loose or too tight. Chain gaurd touching chain or the tire. With the wheel jacked up turn it and work the brake to see if the noise changes. The wheel should turn very easy cheak breakes and chain for probelems wheel bears do fail but mileage needs to be high or wet.

Back brake wire is loose how can we tighten it? (360 degrees brakes)


Loosen the screw on the brake (usually an allen wrench) where the cable goes through. As you loosen the cable will come loose. Pull the cable tight (not too tight) with a pair of pliers and while holding tighten the screw back on. You can now make minor adjustments with the barrel connector near the brake lever hood (where the cable comes out of the hand brake lever).

Rear brake cylinder and bleeding


Relax....KTM's are delicate in this procedure.
First of all make sure that you are using DOT 5.1 brake fluid and not 4 as we use in the Japan models.
Then take the rear caliper in your hands and push the piston all the way in.Then bolt it on its position.
Bolt on the brake hose to the rear caliper tight and leave it loose on the rear master cylinder side (loose but ready to tight it on like half circle loose) and clean up the reservoir completely.
Take a syringe from a pharmacy and a piece of 3mm clear tube.
Start pushing brake fluid in the caliper's loose bleeder until you see fluid coming out fron the hose's loose end on the master cylinder.
The tight the cylinder's bolt and keep pushing fluid until you see it filling up the reservoir.
When you see the reservoir fully filled up, tight the bleeder, take out the syringe and start pressing the brake pedal 15-20 times and the last one keep it down and loose the bleeder (with a tube attached to it and to a bottle) for a sec to relieve the pressure along with any air bubbles.DON'T LIFT THE PEDAL UNTIL YOU HAVE TIGHT BACK THE BLEEDER or the system will **** air in.FIRST tight the bleeder and THEN loose the pedal.
Keep doing that until NO air comes out of the system.
While you are doing this second stage keep filling up the reservoir and do not let the master cylinder **** air in.
