Lefty loosey...use a block of wood to wedge the blade against the deck, and use a ratchet and extend it with a piece of pipe...the get real tight over time...an air gun or other impact gun works the best...

I have a 38" deck yard machines(MTD) lawn tractor. When I raise the lever to disengage the blades, the blades still keep turning. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

If they are slow to stop, thats ok if they don't ever stop thats an issue, the brake shoes that drag on the top of the blade spindles are worn out or not adjusted correctly !

Have difficulty removing mower blades. find it impossible to remove the nut. is it left or right hand thread ?

Hi,
The threads are right hand....
wedge a block of wood into the blade to hold it
then you can really push on the nut...
also make sure you have a good fitting socket wrench
add a pipe on the handle for more leverage...
you also can heat the nut to red hot and then let it cool
which will also help to loosen it...

What does it matter how much they cost. Go to the home depot of the like and buy new blades if you need them. Most of the time all you need to do is sharpen them did you go that route yet??? Lefty loosy righty tighty...

Replace blades on Mtd mower deck

no they are not left hand threads if nuts have molded washers you must use an impact gun. wash holds too much of blade surface and will not turn against it
