Lefty loosey...use a block of wood to wedge the blade against the deck, and use a ratchet and extend it with a piece of pipe...the get real tight over air gun or other impact gun works the best...

Changing blades on 2008 mtd rideon mower, are they left hand thread or just incredibly tight.

to remove the bolt or nut turn it the same direction the blade turns when cutting. This way the bolt tightens itself as it mows not back out and slip.

I have a 38" deck yard machines(MTD) lawn tractor. When I raise the lever to disengage the blades, the blades still keep turning. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

If they are slow to stop, thats ok if they don't ever stop thats an issue, the brake shoes that drag on the top of the blade spindles are worn out or not adjusted correctly !

Have difficulty removing mower blades. find it impossible to remove the nut. is it left or right hand thread ?

The threads are right hand....
wedge a block of wood into the blade to hold it
then you can really push on the nut...
also make sure you have a good fitting socket wrench
add a pipe on the handle for more leverage...
you also can heat the nut to red hot and then let it cool
which will also help to loosen it...
