Question about Oreck Sanapathic DMS2000 Handheld Steam Vacuum

1 Answer

I have the Oreck Sanapathic DMS2000 Handheld Steam Vacuum, but no steam comes out when I push the button. I hear the motor, is there any buttons I am missing or any help on how to make it work, been plugged in for 5 min now. Held button down for 2... nothing. Just a drip of water.

ORECK DMS2000 No Steam
First, tested tank and filter flow together using suction via
plastic tubing. Worked freely Second, removed pump
and disconnected hoses and terminals [watch location,
three terminals on pump, two plugs]. Pump has a slug inside
and I could blow water either way. Sucked white vinegar
both ways until check action returned. Use distilled water
in future!

Oreck steam cleaner, it doesn't give out steam

Use the tool that came with it to clean the nozzle where steam comes out. End nozzle also comes off so you can clean the larger hole with the other scrublike side of the tool.
Also, listen for steam assembly working, a low rumble like sound. If you do not hear it, it is broken and needs to be replaced.

Gets super hot but steam won't come out.

i have a simular steamer made by a different company. it used to work when i had first gotten it, but i think one time that i had plugged it in for a long period of time without using it has caused the plastic parts under the trigger that releases the steam flow to melt. so now the steamer that i have still heats up really hot but when i try to push the button it does nothing, no steam will come out of it at all... so i think my mistake was plugging it in without using it for too long, making it now inoperable basically garbage. sorry to say

Water heats up but no steam comes out

Make sure the nozzle where the steam comes out is not clogged. Minerals in tap water may clog it cause it's very small opening.

Heats up and produces steam but the release button does not open the flow of steam.

To remedy this, I did the following:
1) Removed screws from: a) Lower area of handle (1 screw), b) Top of steamer, under round rubber flap around fill hole (2 screws), c) Front of steamer where nozzles attach (2 screws)
2) Removed back of handle, top of steamer, front of steamer where nozzles attach
3) Once all parts are removed, you can see a brass button that is pushed by the trigger
4) Using a needle-nose pliers, grasp and rotate the button several times in both directions (you may hear it cranking against the interior spring). Do this until it turns fairly easily with the pliers.
5) Once this is done, you fill find that the brass button can be very slightly depressed with a bit of force. You may also need/want to unfold a large paper clip to push into the nozzle hole to help unsticking the brass button (not sure if that helped in my case, but it was something I tried along the way). When the brass button moves in and out (again, it won't move much), the steam release mechanism is unstuck!
6) Reassemble all parts (everything snaps back neatly into place).
This worked for my unit!
