1 Answer

My Fisher and Paykel IW812 washing machine only has a slow fill on the cold water. Tap pressure, hose and inlet screen appear normal. Thoughts?

Yeah if the filters are clear and your water pressure is good replace the inlet valve, i believe on that model the hot and cold come as one assembly which is pretty easy to replace if you take the top off. What happens is part of the valve's inner workings called the diaphragm can devalop a split which'l cause it to fill only slowly

Machine wont fill with hot water

problem in hot water tap
hot water solenoid not activating to let water in
to prove either switch the hoses on the taps and press cold water wash
that proves the tap
then press hot wash and that proves the solenoid

Why does my washing machine take so long to fill?

Check to see if the screens are clogged on your water inlet valves. Just turn your water off at the Hot and Cold faucets, then remove the water hoses from the back of the wash machine.
The section that the hoses were attached to on the back of the wash machine is the water inlet valve (or valves). Take a flashlight and inspect for blockages on the screens (they're located right in the valve inlets).

If you see grit or calcium build up, you can usually pull the tiny plastic screens out with a pair of pliers and clean them out under running water. Then, put them back in and hook everything back up. Turn on your Hot and Cold faucets and see if your washing machine fills faster.

It should work, but if not, you'll need to replace the water inlet valve (or valves, depending on your model)

Good luck!

Hi, my machine won't fill with water

It would only be either cold or hot that does not work. Replace the Inlet solenoid under the top panel.
You can use the same aftermarket valves for both (Original FP valves are different, cold is wildly expensive compares to hot).

I only have a hose attached to the cold water tap and inlet valve of my Fischer & Paykel top loader washing machine as I only do cold washes, this hadn't been a problem until recently, when th

it could be that the water level got to high and came out of the valve you could try putting a cap on the valve and see if that works and if it does not then it might be a bigger issue.

I have a Fisher and Paykal MW512. When starting the machine on cold cycle the water only comes out in dribbles. On a hot cycle the it will fill but when it gets to the rinse it will not fill with water. Is...

had similar issue - cold water wouldn't come thorugh to fill the drum but the hot would. (changed the hot water hose to the cold water tap as an interim fix). father and husband managed to get the lid off the machine (screwdriver prising involved to flip the lid off the tabs near the front of the machine) then they were able to get in and have a look. ended up being a solanoid (spelling?) that had died. basically this part has magnetic parts to open/close the valve and the magnets had died or something. part replaced -- cost about $65. machine working fine now. hope that helps and made sense!

Water fills really slow. When you push button to change water temperature the water comes out better for a tick better then back to slow. Is there anything to fix this?

Hi just read your posting.1st turn the taps off and remove the cold water hose from the tap and machine ends.Check the little filters at the ends of the hose for blockages. Also check the machine end where the hose attaches for a blocked filter in the water valve. Now once the filters are clean put the hose on the tap end and the other end of the hose into a bucket. Now turn the tap on and check to see if you have good water pressure. If you do then replace the hose to the machine. Now repeat on the hot hose.If you are still getting low water pressure into the machine and your water pressure is good from the taps then your water valve or valves are faulty. Please reply on how you got on.Looking forward to your reply.

Water is not filling up.

turn off water
disconnect fill hose from tap
examine screen inside hose end for 'muck' blockage
clean screen
reconnect hose
test washer
if no fill
replace water solenoid valve

note: cold water valve fails first, it gets most use,
if only using cold water, you can simply swap the hot and cold hoses at the tap, and swap the hot and cold electrical connectors on the solenoid valves, the hot solenoid is no the cold one and the washer can be used, cold only, for about as long as it has operated thus far..
