If you have the stop motion that turn and it is jammed the best way is to get a wide bladed screwdriver, as you are looking at the stop motion from the end of the machine put the screwdriver on the left hand side on one of the ridges if you have them and then give the screw driver a good thump and that will indo it, if you have a smooth stop motion then it is perseverence only.

Kenmore sewing machine Model 1602: I was filling a bobbin and when I went back to sewing - the needle won't go up and down. Motor runs when I press on the footpad. It is as if the clutch is stuck as well...

Sound like you need to take it out of bobbin winder mode. Suggest looking for a way to engage the clutch. Turn the center knob on hand wheel and or move the bobbin winding post back to postion.

The center hand wheel should move about 1/3 turn towards you to look it back into place.

My bobbin will not refill but motor is turning over fine. The machine sews well, too.

Do you have your thread wound around the guide the right way so that there is the proper tension? Do you also have your bobbin resting against the bobbin winder all of the way? Have you released the knob (clutch) to stop the needle bar from going up and down? If, all these things are correct and it still does not wind the bobbin, call Sears.

On my Kenmore 15250 sewing machine to wind the bobbin I need to release the clutch by turning clutch knob towards me, so says the instructions booklet. But the clutch knob does not move apart from the...

On my Kenmore I had to pull the knob out to release the clutch, then push it bak in. I don't know if that is the same for you. You can try it, if it doesn;t move, it was worth a try. You could just take to Sears, sewing machine department and ask the salesperson what to do, they should help you for free, our Sears is pretty good about such matters.

Clutch won't release.

This what you do, get a wide blade screwdriver, place the screwdriver blade on one of the slots or grooves on the stop motion wheel on the left hand side as you look at the machine from the end, the the top of the handle a good thump and you will find it will release, don't over tighten once you have freed it off.

Can't tighten clutch on Kenmore zig zag sewing machine.

The clutch has fallen off the shaft. Remove the very small screw in the clutch release screw to remove the clutch release. Place the clutch(round thing with ears on it) back on the shaft with the center ears pointing towards the outside. Put the clutch release screw back on. Tighten it to make sure it works
properly. Put the small screw back in the clutch release screw and test it again. If it will not tighten or release properly, remove the clutch ,rotate it180 degrees and try it again. This should solve your problem.

I have a Kenmore as well ,I hope that this will work for you ,too bad that I don't live close to you otherwise I would give a hand. This is the way I fill the bobbin on mine. Mine is located on the top right ,I put the thread into the bobbin hole leaving a small piece of thread hanging for me to hold when I begin the winding, I pull the wheele out to stop the needle from moving while winding, when I am done just push it back in .I run the thread from the spool into the top left it looks like a U turn with a screw go around that without winding just pull it into the bobbin hole. press the foot control and it will begin winding .
