Motherboard have integrated VGA. I guess VGA is currupted because there is no display on the screen. Juts a pitch black. Power lights HDD light work. But no display. If it was system crash or HDD problem I should have be able to see a display such as BIOS setting, or boot up or blue death screen. No display...

Only had it for one year...

    Cheap laptop...

    I'll but Toshiba next time

mine kicked the bucket as well 2 years and it just died repair shop says i need a new motherboard. i take it this is a common problem. do we have any comeback with packard bell???

  • Anonymous Nov 30, 2008

I had the same problem too, fortunatley it had literally 3 days of the guarantee remaining, the man at comet wasnt impressed!
When i got it back, 3 weeks later, they had repaired the motherboard "fault" and wi-fi, replaced the optical drive and put on a totally new keyboard!
Regrettably within 6 months things started to go wrong again, i lost faith and dumped it in favour of an Acer - maybe i should have spent that little bit more in the first place!

my own packard bell argo c motherboard system is dead slow, eggtimer is always on the mouse pointer, and no programs load up at all! I reformatted, and it kept freezing halfway through the xp install process.

I think its a bad cmos battery on the motherboard, or a bad motherboard, as the hard drive works fine connected to another system using a 2.5 inch ide to usb lead! the cmos battery is hard to get to, so Ill probably give it to a pc store for replacement. Im sure its the battery as the date in the bios keeps resetting to 2005 and system freezing with a bad cmos cpu battery is common

I have a packard bell laptop that needs the power connector on the mainboard, de soldering, and a new one connecting. I just cant for the life of me seem to get the laptop opened up and the board...

Since you're having problems _before_ exposing the motherboard, I highly recommend that you STOP -- take the computer to a qualified technician, for _professional_ repair.

My packard bell has stoped charging

If your laptop has stopped charging and you've already replaced the AC adaptor, then most likely it's either the battery itself or the power port on your laptop. If the battery was fine up to that point then it's probably not the battery. To replace the power port can sometimes involve soldering the new port onto the motherboard of your laptop so it's usually best left to a professional. The port you can usually find on ebay. I've replaced a few that is just a small power board that plugs into the mainboard but other have to be soldered. It's not really hard to do, but it involves dismantling the whole laptop to gain access to the motherboard and sometimes requires soldering. Sometimes its very obvious and you can tell by trying to move the metal pin in the center of the plug on your laptop where it plugs in. If the center prong moves then it has become detached and must be replaced. If not it could also be a connection problem due to corossion. Without pulling it apart and looking at it, it can be hard to tell. Deptending on the extent of the work, it can cost from 50.00 - 200.00. I hope this helps.

Want Instant wi fi when turning on my laptop

Hp comes with a wi-fi utility and I dont find it very useful, so first, you might want to uninstall the software from add or remove programs and then use windows to manage your wi-fi.
Once you connect to a wireless network from 'network connections', it will automatically be set to default and should connect at the computer startup.
If it does not connect automatically.go to 'change order of prefered networks' and put your prefered network on top and set to automatically.

Mine is an ongoing issue, for almost 6 weeks now. I cannot access my Pinterest account. I get no results when I sign on to Pinterest, or when I push the Pinterest button. The first sign of trouble was when I got a message that something had run out or stopped and at that point I was told to paste something to my browser. This was Greek to me and thus began my many desperate pleas for help. At 70 years old, I am unable to follow any instructions. The second thing I was told was to deactivate my account and then reinactivate it. I then read that to deactivate would lose all my boards and pins, so then I was and still am, afraid to do anything! I adore Pinterest. I am a shut in, physically challenged and Pinterest adds so much joy to my daily life. My last email was from a woman, at Corp., and she listed several suggestions...however, I did not understand them, plus, if I exited the email to do what she instructed, I had to hope I could still have the email to go back to, and I immediately did the unthinkable...I lost the email entirely. I am so fed up with myself at this point, I had a computer repair man come to the house to work on my iPad and my laptop, but he said he knew nothing about Pinterest and could not help me at all. I have contacted you for help so many times on this, it is embarrassing and I am sure I have made a nuisance of myself. The initial email, notifying me that something was wrong with my account, is when all the trouble began. I have enjoyed Pinterest for several years, and have no idea what the initial email was talking about. That is when I was told to deactivate and then deactivate my account, and also told to paste something to my browser. It sounds so simple, but I am at a total loss. Again, I am terrified of losing my boards and 57,000.00 pins. Can someone at Corp. try again to help me? Also, is there any chance that they could call me and instruct me over the phone? I am desperate to save my boards/pins.Could someone please try one more time to help me? Carol Thompson Hollyhockheaven 623 910 9386
