Question about Kenmore 93042 Gas Dryer

1 Answer

Our kenmore dryer works well but has a very large lint output from the rear of the machine. It wouldn't have been noticed but the vent hose? came loose and we found great amounts of lint. Is this a fire hazard? what needs to be done? this is a kenmore model# 417.93042300

They all do this in time so clean it out every year as recommended. If the vent gets clogged solid the sensor shuts off the heat automaticly

Kenmore dryer over heats and blows fuse

Hi roger301

Check and clean if necessary your vent hose.
If you vent hose "seems" to be clean then, try running the dryer with the vent hose off and see if the dryer is not running hot anymore.
Make sure your lint screen is in place and has no tears or holes in it and is still firmly attached to the frame.
If you are running too hot you are not moving enough air thru the system.
It could be that the fan blade is plugged up.
The problem could be a large lint ball build up in the center of the fan or a sock, thin pants,a pen, etc. that has gotten into the fan by falling down the hole where the lint screen is normally inserted.
You have to find the air restriction to solve the problem.
It also can be a loose or worn out blower wheel/fan.
Please take time to rate me.

I dropped a screwdriver down the lint vent on the top of my 80 series kenmore dryer. Can I still operate the machine without damage?

I would be very careful if you are doing so. Every dryer has a fan that is used to expel your moisture and air out to the outside, and the fan is usually in the same pipe as the lint catcher. I wouldn't recommend using the dryer until you get the screwdriver out but if you want to try it I would listen very carefully for the sound of the screwdriver hitting the fan blades, because if the fan blades are ruined moisture will remain in the dryer and your clothes will not dry.

The cycles have stopped heating. We have replaced the thermol fuse twice now in two weeks. Noticed when I touch the button to start a cycle, the readout is saying to check filter. Where is that? I'm...

Go outside and look at your flapper valve. Here is another news flash the lint filter can be clean but the air ducts in the dryer can still have lint build up in them. Pull out the lint trap also then using a flaishlight look underneath and around the lint trap area for lint build up. If you don't see anything there remove the rear vent hose and look both into the dryer and into the vent hose. Most likely you find either a kinded vent hose or lint buildup somewhere other than the lint trap itself. If you do find the source just do not use anything sharp to attempt to remove the lint. A bent metal coat hanger or a very large zip / spot ite works great for this task. Hopefully this will resolve your problem. If not post back and we can go from there.

My kenmore dryer door wont stay closed and check the clothes they are still wet but I noticed its hotter than normal in there. I also had some lints below the dryer area. I remember I changed something...

you'll need to replace the door latch, [pretty cheap] - check the vent hose for kinks and obstructions, and the outside vent, some have a grid to prevent critters from crawling in, if this gets plugged up you'll get the symptoms you're describing

Over the weekend, I notice a bird flying in and out of my dryer vent... then our Kenmore electric dryer stopped heating. I'm think that there wasn't enough airflow and the thermo-fuse probably blew... What...

Ah Yes! the old bird in the dryer vent problem!
I would say you are correct. The thermo-fuse blew because of not enough air flow through the heat tunnel.
You probably have a nest in your vent line now.
Clear the entire line from machine outward, replace flex hose if needed and get a new outlet cover with the flaper door on it.
I avoid the ones with screens on the outlet, because it catches lint.
Except in severe cases where a mouse or some other varmit has figure out how to lift the door.

Clothes don't dry fully on automatic cycle with "normal" selected.

there may be a fault on the low heat setting, check the element works on both settings, otherwise nothing to suggest, apart from are you overloading it with too many items?
