Question about Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS15 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

S-video and sony camcorder, no sound with playback.

I just finished a 2 hour session of converting the tapped video from my sony camcorder through the s-video cord to the hp pavilion computer. Playing the video back from the saved files using Windows Media Player, noticed that there is no sound. I checked all the settings I could think of with the computer system, no problems. I checked that I did have sound working from other applications, worked well. I don't know what happended.

I didn't think I had too. I thought S-Video was all I needed. I will also hook up an audio connection and see if that helps.

    Thanks.

Did you connect the sound cable as well? S-Video only supports video, you will have to connect a seperate sound cable for the sound.

convert-avchd-h.264-iphone4.jpg
While you have .mts or .m2ts files from AVCHD camcorders of your friends or relatives, you may find it difficult to visualize the AVCHD videos on your iMac, MacBook Pro or iPhone 4. AVCHD is the advanced format for shooting videos in high definition with 1920x1080 or 1440x1080. Most AVCHD camcorders record HD videos in .mts format, while there are some in .m2ts format like Sony HDR-SR5.
Sony HDR-CX110, Sony HDR-XR520V and Canon HF S21, Panasonic HDC-TM700K and the like offer AVCHD videos in .mts format. While QuickTime Player does not support playing AVCHD videos, VLC media player may sometimes has problem with AVCHD videos, a quick Mac AVCHD to H.264 converter is needed to make MTS/M2TS videos visible on MacBook and even iPhone 4. Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac is the best AVCHD to H.264 converter, which transcodes videos to Mac compatible MP4 format and deinterlaces AVCHD for playback on Apple computer and iPhone 4.
Below is the step-by-step guide for converting AVCHD MTS/M2TS to H.264 on Mac Snow Leopard for you to play HD videos on iPhone 4.
Step 1. Load AVCHD videos to Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac.
After transferring .mts or .m2ts files from AVCHD camcorder to computer hard drive, run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the best Mac AVCHD converter, and click the "Add" button to load HD 1080p AVCHD videos.
Step 2. Choose H.264 format.
For Full HD playback on iMac/MacBook Pro, just click the "Format" option and choose HD Video > H.264 HD Video(*.mov) or choose .mp4 output format. The output H.264 videos will play on Mac without problems.

If you want to play HD video on iPhone 4, just choose iPhone > iPhone 4 H.264 720P(*.mp4) for converting AVCHD to 720p MP4 for iPhone 4 with H.264 as video codec.
Step 3. Convert AVCHD to H.264.
Click the convert button under the preview window, and the Mac AVCHD to H.264 converter starts transcoding AVCHD MTS/M2TS to MP4 for playback on Mac OS X and iPhone 4.
The Mac AVCHD to H.264 converter deinterlaces and removes interlacing artifacts of the 1080i videos for smooth playback on computer and portable devices. You can then watch the HD videos on MacBook, beamer and iPhone 4.

A simple and effective solution for playback m2ts/mts files on Xbox 360

Xbox 360 does not have supports for m2ts/mts files as PS3 does, so if you have the needs of watching your Sony, Canon, etc. AVCHD camcorder captured footages on your wide screen TV through your Xbox 360 console, format conversion is essential. This article aims to give you a simple and effective solution for playback m2ts/mts files on Xbox 360. There you go:
Required software:
Pavtube MTS/M2TS Converter
Pavtube MTS/M2TS Converter is designed for those who have an AVCHD camcorder but unfortunately get stuck in MTS and M2TS video format. It does a good job in converting MTS, M2TS, M2T, TS, TP and TRP to versatile video and audio formats. People who have no way to edit MTS/ M2TS files with Adobe Premiere, Avid, Sony Vegas etc can find a best solution by converting them to useable formats such as WMV(VC-1), MOV (AVC) and MPEG2. The output formats covers common audio, SD video, HD video, Flash video, DVD as well as customized formats for Xbox 360, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, PSP, Zune, Creative Zen, Archos, Nokia etc. All these output formats enable you to playback, edit and upload the footages shot by Sony, Canon, JVC and Panasonic AVCHD Camcorders. By the way, the copy protections removed Blu-ray .m2ts streams are workable with this program.
Following is the step-by-step instruction:
1. Click "Add" button to load mts/m2ts files into Pavtube MTS/M2TS Converter

2. Select output format for Xbox 360
Click on the drop-down menu of "Format", and then go to "Zune/Xbox 360 Device" – "Xbox 360 Video – Windows Media Video (*.wmv)".

3. Customize audio and video settings
Click on "Settings" button, and then you will be able to adjust audio and video parameters like codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, audio channels in the following window. Do not forget clicking "OK" button to confirm your settings. BTW, if you want to combine multiple files to be as a single file, you can tick "Merge into one file".

4. Click "Convert" button to start converting mts/m2ts files for playback on Xbox 360
As long as the conversion is finished, you can get the output files via clicking on "Open" button with ease. And now the files are prepared for playback on your Xbox 360.

I have a Sony HDR-SR1 with video on the hard drive. When I connect it to my iMac via as USB cable, I can see the camera on my desktop, but can't seem to import anything via IMovie. What am I doing...

It is a Hard Disk type Camcorder. Follow the steps as mentioned on the Link given below to transfer the video from the Camcorder to a Mac Computer.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C455202

NOTE: Movie player applications must support MPEG-2 for standard-definition video or AVCHD for high-definition video to open and play these files. Refer to the software manufacturer of the movie player application you are using for additional information and any available updates.

The Apple Macintosh Web site offers MPEG2 Works 4 Advanced 4.2 for download.

The Apple Macintosh Web site has an MPEG-2 Playback component for Quicktime 6 or 7 available for purchase.

Troubleshooting information about importing MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 clips with Apple iMovie software is available on the Apple Macintosh Web site.

For the Apple Mac OS X operating system, DVD authoring software (Capty DVD/VCD 2 ) and MPEG editing software (Capty MPEG Edit EX) is available for purchase from the PIXELA Web site. These applications are for standard-definition video only.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Playback is very jumpy! just gave it a wack and it worked?

Hi Rick, There are no converters to vhs or dvd. You would have to dissassemble the unit, remove all connectors and then re-seat all the connectors rhat you removed. Assemble unit and test. This could solve your no video playback problem.
